THIRD PERSON POV:
"Pandit ji, start the rituals. We will complete this marriage properly." Arjun said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
He sat beside Avni and glanced at her, only to find her face once again hidden behind the veil. He nod at Pandit ji, the priest began chanting the mantras. When it was time for the Granthi Bandhan and Varmala, Aarohi performed the Ghath Bandhan. Soon, the moment arrived for Kanyadaan, and Pandit ji called for Avni's parents.
(A sacred knot is tied, symbolizing the couple's union. The bride and groom exchange garlands, signifying acceptance of each other as partners.)
"Meenal beta, where is Raj?" Rajendra asked politely, keeping his calm posture.
"Actually, he's with Anya. She isn't feeling well and needs him." Meenal replied, her voice trembling with fear over Rajendra's upcoming reaction.
"Meenal Bhabhi, please call bhai-sa for the Kanyadaan ritual." Amara (Arjun's mother) said gently, trying not any other scene to happen now.
"Papa will not perform this ritual." Rahul said loudly, while entering the hall.
"What are you saying, Rahul?" Meenal asked him in pure shock.
"Papa said he won't perform any ritual at her wedding because she has tainted our reputation." He stated firmly, leaving Meenal frozen in her place, while staring him in pure disbelief.
A sudden burst of laughter echoed through the hall, making everyone's heads turn toward Avni, who was laughing loudly, making everyone stare at her. Arjun stared at her in surprise, puzzled by her reaction.
"Avni... Avni?" Arjun called, his brows furrowing.
"She has no shame. Look at her, how she is laughing!" Bhavna (Arjun's bua) hissed in distaste.
By now, Avni had stopped laughing. She turned toward Arjun, a bitter chuckle escaping her lips.
"Arjun ji, see. You've snatched my family from me completely today. My father had turned his back towards me. Now, who will do my Kanyadaan? Or will you skip this ritual since my father refuses to give me away?" Avni asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm, but a hint of pain visible in it.
Which only Aarohi and Meenal know. Arjun too felt something off with her but didn't point out. Arjun looked at her steadily, then composed himself by taking a deep breath.
"Avni, don't worry. Your bhai will perform this ritual." He said calmly trying to handle the situation.
"Didn't you hear what Rahul bhai said?" Avni retorted, tears spilling from her eyes, which didn't go unnoticed by him. He looks at every drop of tear that slips from her eyes.
His hands itched to wipe them away, but he knew he had to stay strong. He couldn't reveal his emotions now, especially after that message, which had shaken him to his core. He signaled to his assistant, who was standing beside the mandap, and whispered something in his ear. Soon, a man in a pink sherwani entered the hall, drawing everyone's attention.
