ARJUN'S POV
"You look beautiful," both of them said to each other at the same time. I chuckled at their reaction.
Avni blushed at Aarohi's compliment. Then everyone wished us a happy anniversary, and we all left for the Pooja Ghar to perform the rituals. Her family didn't talk much to her; no one even asked about her whereabouts. They simply wished me "Happy Anniversary" in a plain tone.
We sat beside each other as Maa-saa came forward with a red chunar in her hands.
"Arjun, Avni ka sar isse dhak lo ache se," Maa-saa said politely. (Arjun, cover Avni's head properly with this.)
"Avni, tumhe pata tha na ki pooja hai, toh tum chunar se apna sar dhak kar aana chahiye tha," Devika Taiji (Avni's aunt) said rudely. (Avni, you knew there was a pooja, you should have covered your head with your dupatta before coming.)
"Taiji, maine hi mana kiya tha chunar lene ko, kyunki Maa-saa ne yeh Avni ke liye khaas banvai thi," I replied in the same tone. (Taiji, I was the one who refused to take the chunar, because Maa-saa had it made especially for Avni.)
I wanted to show her exactly who she was speaking to—Avni was the Queen of Udaipur, and everyone should remember that. With that, the pooja began, and Pandit ji started chanting the mantras.
"Rana-saa, ab aap Rani-saa ki maang mein sindoor bhariye," Pandit ji instructed. (Rana-saa, now apply vermilion in the hair partition of Rani-saa.)

(Sindoor Dani)
I opened the dani and picked a pinch of vermilion between my forefinger and thumb. Moving my hand toward her head, I carefully filled her hairline. A small amount of vermilion fell onto her nose, and I smirked at the sight.
"Mera beta meri bahu se bahut pyaar karta hai, yeh toh main jaanti thi. Aaj uska saboot bhi mil gaya," Maa-saa said proudly. I nodded at her. (I knew my son loves his daughter-in-law very much, and today I got the proof of it.)
The pooja continued for another hour. Then we both performed the aarti and took blessings from our elders. Afterward, we sat down again, and Vedika climbed onto my lap.
"Papa, Mumma is beautiful," Vedu said loudly, gaining everyone's attention.
"Yes, baby, your Mumma is beautiful," I replied. Avni blushed deeply, and a smile spread across my face.
