A song for the chapter: Evergreen - Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners

As the train finally made its stop, Elwia and the trio climbed out of the train and bid each other goodbye, since Elwia had to go with the first years to get sorted. She didn't really understand the logic behind that, but she also didn't really care.

Elwia followed the big, hairy man and the short goblins that didn't seem to know how to walk in a composed queue.

"Bloody first years." She mumbled to herself.

Elwia got on one of the boats, and so did a girl with ponytails and glasses.

"You look too old to be here." The girl with ponytails said sceptically and crossed her hands, and examined Elwia with her eyes.

Elwia noticed that the girl's pink-framed glasses had a few cracks in them, and a plaster holding the two pieces together.

"That's because I am." Elwia snorted and asked, "What's your name?"

"Poppy Adams, you?" Poppy smiled a little and looked at Elwia intrigued.

"Elwia Delacour." She answered, and allowed herself to show the little girl a smile.

"You're from France, aren't you? I kind of figured it out because of your accent. I like your accent a lot. I read lots of books about geography this summer, especially about Europe. It's truly very interesting—the borders and the history. You should read it too! I actually have the book with me if you want to." Poppy tattled fast; Elwia couldn't almost even make out what Poppy was saying.

"Yeah, sure, I'd like to." Elwia smiled and continued with a question, "Are you a muggle born?"

"Yes, I'm so excited. My parents were so proud when they found out I am a witch." Poppy's face was glowing with happiness.

"I bet they were. You truly are special." Elwia said with a reassuring kind tone and smiled.

Elwia had a sweet spot for children, well, depending on what the child was like. For girls like Poppy, yes, but for little demon kids? Never.

Poppy smiled but suddenly gaped in awe as the great castle came into their view. Elwia would probably not say it out loud but the Hogwarts castle made her quite impressed. Though, Beauxbatons castle was much more beautiful in her opinion.

The boats arrived at the boathouse and everyone began walking towards the castle. With Poppy by Elwia's side, she entered Hogwarts through the big steel gates. As they were walking up the stairs just before the entrance to the Great Hall, a stale-looking old woman suddenly appeared in front of the students and started talking about the four houses.

"I'm going to be a Ravenclaw. They're smart like me." Poppy whispered to Elwia.

"I'm sure you will be." Elwia spoke in a hushed voice.

Then the Great Hall doors opened, and a beautiful view appeared in front of Elwia. Thousands of candles were floating in the sky, yet she could still see the night sky above her.

"It's bewitched to look like the sky outside. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History." Poppy told Elwia with eyes full of excitement.

"Okay, miss know-it-all." Elwia laughed as she walked towards the podium, where there was a single stool and a hat.

Elwia gulped and stopped in her tracks when McGonagall pulled out a big sheet of paper. She started calling out names, and one by one, the group around her got smaller and smaller. Poppy got into Ravenclaw—not really a surprise to anyone. And finally, after a long time, it was just Elwia standing. In reality, it hadn't been more than 35 minutes, but to her it felt longer.

"Elwia Delacour. A transfer student from Beauxbatons. Sixth-year." McGonagall announced.

Elwia heard some whispering amongst the crowd of students, but she didn't take it into account. With confidence, she walked up the small steps and sat on the wooden stool. McGonagall put the hat on her head and the girl felt a bit disgusted at the thought of possibly getting lice from it.

Suddenly, the hat started speaking. Elwia got kind of startled at first but managed to cool down. She hoped that no one had noticed her reaction as she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of hundreds.

"Ermm.. You have great courage, but you are also very cunning. You are loyal and brave; you would take a curse for your loved ones, wouldn't you? You have a strong sense of morality, you are not one to go against your beliefs." The hat spoke thoughtfully and mumbled, "Perhaps not a Gryffindor, although it wouldn't be a bad choice. Therefore, I must place you in... Slytherin!" The hat yelled, and Elwia sighed in relief.

She wasn't exactly relieved that she got into Slytherin, she was just happy that she didn't have to sit in front of hundreds of people anymore. Elwia couldn't help but take notice of Harry's, Hermione's, and Ron's reaction to her new house. They seemed disappointed.

Elwia walked up to the Slytherin table, and noticed a grey-eyed blonde boy looking at her. Was this the bully the trio had talked about on the train? The closest empty space was just in front of him, so Elwia decided to sit there. The blonde was still looking at her, and she looked at him back.

"What're you looking at?" She asked, slightly shaking her head in confusion.

The blonde boy merely scoffed and started eating. Yeah, this was definitely the boy that the trio had told Elwia about.

"I wouldn't mind him if I were you; he's always a little grumpy. Blaise Zabini, nice to meet you." Said a handsome-looking, dark-skinned boy.

"Noted." Elwia laughed and shook his hand.

Then she began eating the delicious feast in front of her. She had last eaten breakfast, which had been many hours ago.

After supper, the headmaster, Dumbledore, gave a short speech about some boy named Tom Riddle and some other stuff, but Elwia was too tired to listen. She got up and followed the students that were wearing green robes, since she had no idea how to get into the Slytherin common room.

As Elwia was walking, someone pulled her sleeve, making her turn around.

"Hey, it was Elwia, right? We are going to have this small get-together in my room later. Want to come?" A brunette boy asked her.

"Oh, I guess I can come. Are you Blaise's friend? I think I saw you sitting next to him at the feast." Elwia asked and started walking again.

"Yes, I'm Theo Nott." The brunette smirked as he took Elwia's hand and kissed it while looking at her. Elwia rolled her eyes and smiled. He was rather attractive, but he probably did this to every girl he met.

After the two had walked and chit-chatted for a while, they arrived at an empty stone wall. Elwia looked at Theo confused, but he just smiled crookedly.

"Salazar," Theo rolled the word off his tongue smoothly, and then an entrance appeared.

"How often does the password change?" Elwia asked as she walked inside.

"Every month, I think. I'll make sure to keep you updated." Theo said and nudged Elwia lightly.

"Sure, thanks. Where exactly is your room?" She asked, referencing the small get-together Theo had spoken of.

"Pansy and Astoria will show you. They're in the same room as you." Theo answered and bid her goodbye.

Elwia nodded and made her way towards her dorm.
