A song for the chapter: I Know The End - Phoebe Bridgers

31st of March 1997

Elwia woke up with a bad feeling in her stomach. She hadn't seen any nightmares or visions of Apolline dying anymore, and for some reason, it only made her feel worse. Elwia didn't really understand her powers, but she feared that the visions ending meant that it was too late to change the future.

It was a great surprise that Elwia found herself standing behind Mattheo's door, hopeless and in great need of answers. She raised her hand and knocked three times, patiently waiting for Mattheo to open the door.

A minute passed by before Mattheo's head peeked through the door and asked, "What do you want?"

"Your wisdom and knowledge. Can I come in?" Elwia rolled her eyes and tried to force herself in.

"I'm quite busy right now. Can it wait?" Mattheo sighed dramatically and glanced behind him.

"Yeah, bollocks. Just let me in, please? It's important." Elwia kindly asked the question while flashing a fake smile.

"Fine, whatever. My room is a mess, by the way." Mattheo opened the door and let Elwia walk further inside.

"Luckily, I didn't come here to admire your room. What were you busy doing anyway?" Elwia questioned and looked around the room until her eyes landed on Mattheo.

"None of your business, Potter." Mattheo sneered and closed the door. "Now, what's so important that you had to come here and ruin my day?"

Elwia gasped, slightly offended, "Geez, I just wanted to know more about seer powers and what the side effects of being a living Horcrux are..."

"Okay? Well, ask your questions then." Mattheo said impatiently.

"The visions of my mother dying have stopped. Does that mean doomsday is close or something? I have this really bad feeling in my gut that the visions have stopped because it's too late to stop it." Elwia asked, her demeanour immediately growing more anxious.

It almost looked like Mattheo's eyes had softened when he heard what Elwia had come to him for, but what came out of his mouth afterwards made Elwia immediately doubt what she had seen.

"Yeah, probably. Don't get too sad about it, though. It was very unlikely that you could've successfully interfered with the future anyway. Sometimes bad things have to happen for the future to turn out somewhat better." Mattheo shrugged his shoulders and rested his body against the door.

"Merlin, you're such a cunt. I was a fool to come to you for advice." Elwia scoffed, trying her best to hold back tears, but the lump in her throat was really beginning to hurt.

Mattheo shifted slightly where he stood, almost as if he was regretting his choice of words. But once again, the key word being almost.

"You might think that, but in reality, I'm the only person right now who's not sugarcoating the truth for you, Potter." Mattheo said and tilted his head. "The others are too afraid to tell you what they think, because they know you're also thinking it. They don't want to feed your fears."

Elwia swallowed back her tears, straightening her posture. "Okay, then. What about the side effects of being a Horcrux? I already know about my connection with Voldemort and the dying part. What else is there to know?" She asked impatiently.

"Your connection with Voldemort is much deeper than you can possibly understand. One could say you almost share the same flesh. Your mind is his, and his is yours," Mattheo said slowly and quietly, not ending his mysterious allusion there. "You do realise that you can use this to your benefit, don't you? You and Harry both can. Although, of course, reading and trying to interpret the thoughts of a person such as Voldemort will be difficult."
