A song for the chapter: Children of The Revolution - T.Rex
April 24th 1997
"Do you hang out here even when you're not working on the task?" Elwia asked and glanced at the endless piles of items in the Room of Requirement.
There was something in the room that was calling Elwia towards it—dark energy and whispers—but she couldn't place her finger on what it was.
"Sometimes, yeah. Not a lot of people know this place, which means I can be alone here." Draco answered, picking up something from a table.
Elwia smirked to herself, preparing herself for what she was about to say. "Miles said some time ago that you come here to shag your multiple girls. Is that true?"
Draco turned around to look at Elwia with an amused expression. "Would you be jealous if I told you yes?"
Elwia rolled her eyes and moved her eyes away from Draco, in fact, slightly feeling ill from jealousy. Although she wasn't aware of that herself and simply thought that Draco's arrogance was infuriating.
"It was a joke, Delacour. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were jealous there for a quick second." Draco chuckled and walked over to Elwia.
Elwia gasped, "Me? Jealous? Don't flatter yourself, Malfoy." A smirk formed on her pink lips.
"Truth be told, the only two things I do here are mending the vanishing cabinet and thinking. I try not to show it when I'm around you, but the task is really stressing me out. I've slept maybe 10 hours in total in the past week." Draco admitted, suddenly avoiding Elwia's eyes.
"If you want to, can we sleep together?" Elwia suggested.
Draco raised his eyebrows, seeming a bit taken aback, then after a few seconds, he said, "What?"
Elwia cleared her throat, "I've been having trouble falling asleep alone. Maybe some company would help?"
Draco rubbed his neck and, for some reason, looked unsure.
"Hey, we don't have to do anything if it makes you feel uncomfortable. I simply thought that each other's company might help sleep come faster." Elwia said quickly.
"No, it's fine. We'll go to my dorm." Draco shook his head and stepped closer to Elwia.
Elwia glanced at the floor before looking up at Draco's grey eyes and asked, "Why'd you hesitate at first?"
"I thought about the Dark Lord and about me being a Death Eater. I feared for a second that if you and I grew too close, I might place you in danger. But there's a selfish part of me that still wants this to happen—us." Draco almost whispered, his eyes longing and hopeless.
Elwia's eyes grew sadder as she raised her hand to caress Draco's cheek.
"I feel the same way, but don't grow too fond of me, Draco." Elwia muttered.
"Or what? You're going to break my heart?" Draco chuckled dryly, but Elwia could notice the hurt in his eyes.
Elwia shook her head, her eyes filled with sorrow. "No, I'd never."
"Then what is it?" Draco frowned, trying his best to understand the girl who stood in front of him, whom he cared for so deeply.
"It's not that simple. Let's go to your dorm. It's getting late." Elwia sighed and looked down.
Draco looked as if he still had questions lingering in his mind, which was understandable—Elwia indeed had not answered them. Elwia spoke in a manner that made one feel reassured and confused at the same time.
