A song for the chapter: Silver Springs - Fleetwood Mac

It felt as if Draco was giving Elwia the cold shoulder, because the next morning, when she had woken up in his room, he was nowhere to be seen. On the two mornings before, he had always been there to wake her up.

But that wasn't the only reason for her doubt. Draco hadn't acknowledged her at all when she sat down next to him at breakfast; instead, he kept talking to Crabbe and Goyle out of all people.

Elwia wasn't sure if it was just her mind playing tricks on her, or had Draco realised their relationship would never work since neither of the two could completely trust each other?

There was no way of knowing that because Elwia sure as hell wouldn't go begging and crying to Draco for answers.

"Malfoy, can we talk?" Elwia poked Draco's shoulder.

Well, never mind.

Draco turned to look at Elwia, glancing at the people around them as he did so.

"Make it quick." Draco huffed and stood up, heading towards the entrance.

Elwia frowned, sensing that there had definitely been a shift in energy between them. She crossed her hands, annoyed, and followed Malfoy outside.

The two walked into an empty classroom, and Elwia closed the door behind her, turning to face Malfoy with a frustrated expression.

"What?" Malfoy scoffed, shaking his head.

"What's your problem?" Elwia pointed her finger in his face and stepped forwards.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Malfoy scrunched his face in disgust, an expression he hadn't done towards her in many months.

Elwia groaned and formed her hand into a fist, fuming from anger, which immediately reminded her of somebody.

"Why are you acting that way towards me? I thought we were something." Elwia calmed herself down, pleading for Draco to tell her what was wrong.

"There is no us." Malfoy stated, avoiding Elwia's eyes.

Elwia stepped back, her expression filled with hurt and confusion. She bit her lip, trying her best to stop the tears from coming.

"But what about this weekend? Did it mean nothing to you?" Elwia asked, her voice slightly cracking.

Malfoy's head shook 'No', but his voice said, "Yes. It meant nothing."

Elwia nodded once and left the classroom immediately, rushing towards the nearest bathroom, where she could lock herself in one of the stalls and rip her heart out.

What had made Draco change his mind so quickly? There was something he wasn't telling her; Elwia was sure of it. Or maybe she was just telling herself that, not wanting to believe that in reality he had simply grown bored of her.

But Elwia's mind kept searching for answers, even though it only made her feel worse.

Was it because she wasn't pretty enough?

Was she not skinny enough?

Was it because Elwia hadn't had sex with him?

Those were all reasons why Miles had been so angry at Elwia throughout their short relationship. He had completely ruined her self-image by making her believe she was never enough.

All Elwia wanted was to be loved unconditionally by someone. She wanted to be loved for who she was.

Was that too much to ask for?
