A song for the chapter: Only You - Portishead
"Do I look good?" Elwia asked nervously while staring at herself in the bathroom mirror.
It was the 18th of January, a Saturday night, and it was Miles Bletchley's 18th birthday, which meant that Elwia could possibly have a pretty good chance at snogging with him and maybe even asking him to be her Valentine's Ball date. She only had 2 days left to win her challenge, and to be truthful, Elwia wasn't looking forward to the humiliation Pansy and Astoria had planned for her if she were to lose.
"Yes, you look so beautiful and fit! It's basically a cheat code to winning that you look so hot. I am absolutely sure that you and Miles will snog tonight, and I can't say that I am mad about it, though it's a shame I won't see you do the dare now. Miles would surely make a good boyfriend if things go further than that." Astoria winked her eye, walked up to the red-haired girl, and set her head on Elwia's shoulder from behind.
"Okay, let's not go that far yet; I don't even know if I have feelings for him. It's just pure sexual attraction... Fuck, I sound like a man!" Elwia laughed and shook her head with disappointment.
"That's a cute top. Where did you get it?" Pansy cooed, peeking her head into the bathroom.
"Thanks, Pansy. I got it from Hermione as a Christmas gift; she made it herself." Elwia smiled and looked down at her top in awe.
Elwia was wearing a black top with white embroidery all around the fabric and a denim miniskirt. She also had lots of silver jewellery around her neck, in her fingers, ears, and wrists. Her nails were painted cherry red, and on her feet she had her old black Converse shoes. Around her shoulder, Elwia was carrying a black leather bag that had everything she would need at the party: a hairbrush, her makeup, perfume, and a bottle of Smirnoff.
"Oh, wicked." Pansy nodded with an impressed face and left the bathroom.
"I've never made fishtail braids before but I think they look great on you, especially with your waves." Astoria admired her work.
Astoria had made Elwia a half-up, half-down kind of hairstyle. A small part of Elwia's hair was in a bun; the rest was open or had been braided into small fishtail braids.
"You look absolutely amazing yourself; no doubt Adrian will have some serious trouble keeping his hands to himself." Elwia giggled and started walking out of the bathroom.
"I've been manifesting that all day. I can't wait to sneak off to the bathrooms with him." Astoria admitted with a devilish grin.
"Oh, I wish I had someone to do things with. It's been like 8 months since I've last had sex." Elwia groaned.
"It's like you've been in a celibacy. Are you perchance... a nun?" Pansy teased and wiggled her eyebrows.
"I'm sure I'll get some, but I also have standards." Elwia laughed while putting lip gloss on.
"I'm surprised we've never asked this, but who was your first?" Astoria enquired, pouring herself a glass of white wine.
Elwia raised her eyebrows thoughtfully and sat down on her bed. "Leon D'Aboville, my friend back at Beauxbatons. We had always been playful towards each other and touchy, so it was no surprise that one night when we were hanging out in his room, we eventually kissed. That led to us experimenting all other kinds of things, and it was fun and completely platonic. We were just teenagers doing something that made us feel good." Elwia told with a smile, thinking back to the memories.
"Do you ever miss him?" Pansy asked, resting her body against the four-poster bed.
Elwia shook her head and looked down at her hands. "Eventually, he developed feelings for me, and they were the kind of feelings that I did not feel in return. Things got awkward, and we stopped being friends just a week before our 5th year was going to end." The red-haired girl shrugged her shoulders and stood up from the bed, walking up to her mirror.
