A song for the chapter: Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
On July 30th, 1997, Elwia finally turned seventeen.
But it didn't make her feel any different or better. She received some small gifts, like candy and books, but it wasn't what she wanted. All Elwia wished for her birthday was to be with Draco again, and for her mother to be there for her, seeing her daughter come of age.
On the morning of Elwia's birthday, a message had appeared on the fake galleon from Mattheo. The text was small but still readable.
He remembered your birthday. He had a gift.
Elwia only wondered what Draco had bought her and if she would ever get to see it. She tried her best not to dwell on the thought; it wouldn't help with anything.
On Harry's birthday it marked four months without Apolline and one month since Elwia had last seen Draco. Time was passing so quickly, and it frightened her, for she knew she did not have a lot of it left.
Elwia was glad Pansy was staying in the Burrow, although she had to admit that it was really odd seeing her hanging out with the Weasleys, whom she had hated almost all her school years. Well, Pansy never hated them, but still, the Slytherin and Gryffindor rivalry was very much real. It turned out that she actually got along pretty nicely with them, at least with Fred and George.
"Do you think George remembers we made out while drunk at the beginning of the school year?" Pansy asked for the tenth time that day; the day before, it had been seven times.
"I have no idea, Pansy. Hopefully not." Elwia chuckled, enjoying the fresh strawberries Molly had picked from the garden.
"You and George have made out?" Irie's shocked voice called out from the entrance to the kitchen.
"Shhh! Irie, it's not what you think it is." Pansy gasped and rushed towards her girlfriend.
"Oh, I feel faint. I can't believe it." Irie said dramatically, bringing her hand to her forehead.
"I was drunk and in denial. I can say I am very much a lesbian and only have eyes for you, Irie Meadowes." Pansy smiled and kissed Irie passionately on the lips.
"Get a room!" Elwia shouted, cupping her hands around her mouth.
"Oh, shush, Elwia. I had to put up with you and Draco shamelessly, blindlessly, flirting and in love for 10 months." Pansy laughed and put her arm over Irie's shoulder.
"Hey! It was not 10 months! It all started after the Slytherin ball." Elwia defended her honour.
"Okay, so almost 7 months. That's not any better." Pansy snorted.
"Wait, what! Are you and Malfoy together?" Irie's mouth fell wide open.
"Yeah, but it's pretty tough right now, as you can guess. Harry knows, but please don't tell anyone else, especially not Sirius, because I don't want him to know I'm dating his cousin's son. He hates the Malfoys." Elwia answered with a laugh, sighing deeply as the memories of Draco came flooding back.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." Irie shook her head with a smile.
"You aren't going to stay at the Burrow forever, are you? Any plans on where to go?" Elwia asked.
"I mean, there is Grimmauld Place, but too many people know about it, and that's why Sirius feels like it's no longer safe. Sirius and Remus have mentioned something about cousin Andromeda's house and that Tonks is going there, so maybe we'll go as well." Irie answered and tilted her head, "And what about you?"
"I – uh, I'll stay close to Harry. I'll be where he is." Elwia said with a sigh, anxiously fidgeting with her hands.
Both Pansy and Irie nodded, then began talking about something else, which Elwia took as a cue to leave. She decided to go outside and saw Harry standing there with his hands in his pockets, simply looking up at the blue sky.
