A song for the chapter: Black Out Days - Phantogram

The good weather didn't last long, as everyone suspected. Today was October 12th, and much to everyone's dismay, it was snowing.

"What does the word trepidation mean? I've never heard of it before. My English is good, obviously, but there are still some words I'm unfamiliar with." Elwia asked while reading a book.

"Oh, it's like, uh, a sensation of fear or anxiety about something that might happen." Theo answered.

"Could it be for example that you suddenly have a huge feeling in your gut that something bad is going to happen?" Elwia confirmed.

"I think so, yeah." Theo shrugged his shoulders with a smile.

"What're you reading? Are you still reading that love story, pride and pre-something?" Blaise asked.

"Pride and Prejudice, and no, I'm not. I'm reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley." Elwia answered with a small laugh and stroked a hair behind her ear.

"We should go to Hogsmeade." Malfoy said suddenly, interrupting the ongoing conversation. He had been quiet the whole time, until now.

"It's snowing and so cold." Astoria complained and drank her pumpkin juice.

"I don't usually open up to any of you, but please. We need to go to Hogsmeade; it's important. I can't tell you what it is, but I think a lot of you can guess what it has to do with." Malfoy basically begged.

"Of course, mate, we could go to the Three Broomsticks. Is that okay?" Blaise suggested with a reassuring smile. Malfoy nodded, looking relieved. For some reason, Mattheo was eyeing Malfoy observantly, as if he were keeping an eye on him.

The Slytherin group went back to the common room and to their dorms to put on warmer clothes. Elwia put on a black beanie and her black leather jacket, she even put on some mittens that her grandmother had made for her. The girl did not want to catch a cold.

Elwia, Pansy, and Astoria were walking outside in the snow, excitedly talking about Halloween and what they should dress up as for the Four Houses Halloween party. Suddenly, Elwia felt a hard force hit her in the back. She turned around in shock and saw Blaise smirking at her with a snowball in his hand. Another one hit Elwia in the stomach, this time from Theo. Astoria got bombed in the face by Adrian.

"Adrian, my mascara is not waterproof!" She yelled and lunged at Adrian, both of them falling on a pile of snow. Elwia started laughing and threw a snowball at Theo's face.

"Oh, you won't be laughing for long." He smirked, grabbed Elwia by the waist, and threw her over his shoulder.

"No! Theo, let me down! I'm sorry, I swear." Elwia laughed.

"Nope, you're in airjail for that one." Theo said, acting all tough.

"I'm sorry, Teddy." Elwia pouted unseriously, trying to hold in her laughter. He put Elwia down and looked at Elwia with an amused expression.

"Fine, but don't do it again. And also, don't call me that." Theo laughed.

"I promise." Elwia smiled innocently while forming a snowball behind her back. When the snowball was finally stiff and hard enough, the girl shouted, "Hey Mattheo, watch out!" and threw a snowball at the boy's back.

"Which one of you threw that? Was it you Theo?" Mattheo asked, sounding annoyed.

"Nah, it was her." Theo answered with a laugh and pointed his finger at Elwia who was now long gone.

"Can't catch me now!" Elwia shouted, looking back at Mattheo while running. Since Elwia wasn't looking where she was going, she smashed into Malfoy, who had been walking ahead of them. Malfoy fell to the ground, and Elwia fell on top of him. The girl looked at him, still smiling from the adrenaline. She hadn't quite registered the actual situation she was in. Elwia could swear she saw Malfoy's gaze soften for a moment.
