A song for the chapter: Mystery of Love - Sufjan Stevens
"You're late, Delacour." Miles Bletchley noted sternly, floating in the air on his broom. "Sorry. I got caught up doing... stuff." Elwia said innocently, holding her new broom she had gotten for Christmas from Sirius.
"You got a new broom? It was about time." Bletchley mumbled, his hazel eyes sparkling with amusement. "A Nimbus 2004." Elwia nodded and flew up in the air. "Oh, I remember those. Malfoy's father got the whole team Nimbus 2001 some time ago." Bletchley said with an impressed face. "Nice," the red-headed girl said.
"Okay, everyone! Gather around, would you?" Bletchley started shouting and cracked his knuckles. "Today we'll be practicing swerving bludgers. I've noticed some of you getting a lot of hits during games..." Miles glanced at Elwia with a raised eyebrow.
"Maybe, but it's only because those two oafs keep aiming their bludgers towards me, when they really should be focusing on the team we're playing against." Elwia rolled her eyes and crossed her hands while giving a death glare to Crabbe and Goyle. She had no idea what they had against her; they seemed to hate her more than Malfoy ever did.
"Goyle, Crabbe, if you keep aiming bludgers towards my players, you're out of the team. I won't tolerate anything of that sort, especially towards the only female player on the team. If you discriminate against the best chaser I've had during my three years as a captain, trust me, I will discriminate against you two personally." Miles raised his eyebrow, giving a small nod to Elwia.
"Whoa, that was hot." The girl thought to herself. Elwia was now really beginning to like the idea of possibly snogging Miles Bletchley. I mean, the boy had no flaws. He was tall, muscular, hazel-eyed, had brown curly hair, and had a feisty, angry personality.
Elwia noticed from the corner of her eye that Draco was glaring at Bletchley. Weird, right?
"Understood..." Goyle and Crabbe muttered, glancing at Elwia, who had the smile of a winner painted on her lips. To annoy the two oafs even more, the girl mouthed a word so barbaric and foul, I dare not even say it. Dickface.
"Thank you, Miles, for defending me. Am I really the best chaser you've ever got?" Elwia turned to face Miles, looking at the boy with a dareful expression, not breaking eye contact. "Don't let it get to your head, Delacour." The curly-headed boy smirked, tossing the bludger around in his hands.
"You're hurting my feelings, Bletchley. I swear you've said that to me and Blaise before also." Theo peeked into the conversation with Blaise and Adrian by his side, both of them looking at Elwia with a playful smile.
"The multiple girls you two have wrapped around your finger and whisper sweet nothings to probably feel the same way." Elwia joked, resting on her broom in the air.
"Ouch, that hurt even more. The power of the truth, it seems." Theo and Blaise laughed.
Elwia was really missing the company of Theo, Blaise, and Adrian, but it was better to keep her distance from them; it was for the boys' safety.
"Sharp words, Elwia. I hope your skills in swerving the bludgers are as sharp. I'll be throwing bludgers also, alongside those 'two oafs'." Miles grinned, referencing Elwia's earlier choice of words.
Elwia gulped, her lips forming into a small line, thinking about her life choices. If she were to die today, then at least the Order would be one step closer to destroying Voldemort. Seeing that she and Harry were horcruxes, they would have to die to save the world. They would never experience falling in love, having children, or getting to finish their education. Though no one other than Elwia and Mattheo was aware of that.
