A song for the chapter: Everything In Its Right Place - Radiohead

8th of March, 1997

"It sure is weird that Lupin wouldn't answer your letter. I think it's also possible that the letter never reached him or his answer got lost on the way to you." Harry shrugged his shoulders, throwing pieces he had ripped from the Daily Prophet into the fireplace.

"I'm sure his letter will reach you soon. Remus is like a father to me, so I know what he is like. He would never intentionally not write back to you, especially taking into account the seriousness of your situation." Irie comforted and placed her hand on Elwia's shoulder.

"But wouldn't that mean something has most definitely happened? What if something has happened to Uncle Moony?" Elwia gulped and buried her face in her hands.

Harry shook his head. "No. Sirius would have told me if that was the case." Although, this only made Elwia feel worse because Harry sounded as if he was also trying to convince himself.

"And what if something has happened to him as well?" Elwia mumbled, feeling incredibly pessimistic.

"Don't say that, Elwia. Most likely, bad weather caused the letter to disappear. It's been snowing nonstop for a month." Harry shook his head and began anxiously bouncing his leg.

"Mhm, yeah. I should probably head out since it's pretty late." Elwia noted and stood up from the sofa.

"I also need to go to my dorm. Supposedly, Ron's been studying there for hours, and I need to see if that's truly the case." Harry chuckled and walked over to Elwia to hug her.

"I feel so scared, Harry." Elwia whispered in her brother's ear as they embraced each other.

"I am here for you, always. You're my sister, I'll never let you face any of this alone." Harry assured and patted Elwia's back.

"I know." Elwia nodded, pulling away from the hug, and then asked, "Are you still up to hang out in two days?"

"It was Saturday, wasn't it? Of course, I'm looking forward to it." Harry answered with a small smile.

"See you later, Elwia." Irie said and waved her hand.

"Yes. Bye, Irie." Elwia smiled and left the common room.

Deep in her thoughts, the red-haired girl walked through the cold corridors, not really paying attention to where she was heading. Elwia felt a heavy burden on her shoulders, a constant feeling of dread inside her. Her life had turned upside down in just four months, and having had barely any time to process her life changes, she wasn't exactly sure what was real anymore.

Elwia was playing with the chain of Salazar's medallion that was around her neck when suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder, which made her startle really badly. When she turned around, Elwia saw McGonagall in front of her with a serious face.

"You really shouldn't wander so late in these dark corridors, Ms Delacour." She said sternly yet with a tone of softness in her voice.

"I'm sorry, Professor. I was deep in my thoughts." Elwia apologised and looked at McGonagall's piercing blue eyes.

"Hm, you remind me of a student I once had; in fact, you remind me of at least three students. Nevertheless, Headmaster Dumbledore is wishing to see you in his office, I'll escort you there." McGonagall sighed and started walking.

Elwia quickly followed behind McGonagall's long strides, almost having to jog so she could keep up. In her mind, Elwia wondered what Dumbledore could possibly want from her this late.
