A song for the chapter: My Way Of Life - Frank Sinatra

Elwia had sent her letter to Fleur five days earlier, and on Monday, April 19th, Mitski arrived during breakfast, flying in with a letter among the other owls. Tears welled in Elwia's eyes as she read the letter, the chattering of voices fading from her ears.

Dear Elwia,

I'm at a loss for words.

I took time off work so I could process everything. Luckily, I have Bill to help me. Uncle Gabriel has been planning the funeral with me. It feels so weird. He is heartbroken that he lost his sister.

I don't know what I'd do if I lost you now, Elwia, my baby sister.

The funeral will be held on May 20th, in Cornwall, England, at the Shell Cottage where Bill and I live. Mother always spoke about how she wanted her final place to be close to the people she loves, I figured you'd be fine with her being buried in the meadow behind our house. I've invited the Weasleys, Harry, Sirius, Remus, and all our relatives from France. You can have your friends come as well if you want.

Bill and I will get married on August 1st at the Burrow if all goes well. I wish you to be my maid of honour.

I joined the Order about a week ago. I want to help save people. I don't want anyone else losing their family members.

Joining the Order brought me new knowledge of your origin. Bill knows as well, and so do Mr and Mrs Weasley, and so do all the other adults who are a part of the Order. The younger Weasleys haven't been told about it yet, unless you've told them. Your origin doesn't matter to me at all, you are still my sister, even if not by blood.

I love you, Elwia.

With love,

your sister, Fleur

The only thing Elwia could think of was how she had gotten a reply from Fleur and how fast Mitski had flown to England and back to Hogwarts. When Elwia had written to Remus, Mitski had only come back the day her mother died, which meant that Mitski had been gone from the beginning of January until March 31st. This could only indicate that someone or something had definitely held Mitski back.

Elwia closed her eyes, not wanting the others to take notice of her glossy eyes. She then tried her best to remember something – anything – that could help her solve this mystery. Elwia's mind browsed through every memory when suddenly, she found herself standing behind Dumbledore's door.

"When the time comes, you need to kill me, Severus."

"I don't think I can, Albus. And don't even get me started on the letters. Are we really going to hide this from Elwia? Stealing her letters and keeping her owl hidden in your office?"

"If Draco can't do it, you have to. The letters are a shame, but it's the way things have to go. Even with powers like Elwia's, she can't alter the course of the future. Her mother has to die."

This was the 8th of March when Dumbledore wanted Elwia in his office. The conversation between Snape and Dumbledore had been muffled then, but now Elwia heard them perfectly clear. She now understood everything that had happened.

Albus Dumbledore had interfered with the future.

By stealing Elwia's letter, he had altered the course of how things were supposed to unfold.

Elwia opened her eyes and saw that she was now back in the Great Hall as if nothing had happened.

"Hey, Elwia? Did you hear what I said? It looked like your mind was elsewhere for a quick minute." Pansy asked.
