A song for the chapter: Scott Street - Phoebe Bridgers
Beginning of June 1998
A funeral was held for everyone who had been lost in the Battle of Hogwarts. Every family member and friend got their own turn to speak about the person they had lost.
Elwia surprisingly found strength within her to speak about Mattheo and what his true nature had been: that he had helped them destroy Voldemort. She spoke of his sarcasm, shitty jokes, and defensive personality.
"Astoria and I were best friends from birth and remained so until her passing. She died fighting and was brave even in her last moments." Pansy said and looked up at the crowd with teary eyes.
"As of late, I've begun to think that maybe we met so early because we'd never be able to grow old together."
"Astoria Greengrass didn't have a single cruel bone in her body. She was kind and loving and didn't deserve what happened to her. Tori always dreamed of having her own cosmetic brand, and she wanted to have children, two girls and one boy. I don't know how I'll be able to live without her now." Adrian wept and tried his best to hold himself together.
"I only knew Astoria for 1 year and 8 months, of which half the time I spent on the run and imprisoned. But during the 10 months I spent with her at Hogwarts, I learnt to love the girl with all my heart. She was clever and most funny." Elwia smiled.
She had already grown used to the taste of her salty tears and didn't mind it anymore.
"After I lost Astoria, I felt my whole world change. It lost all the colour that it once had. And now life feels like a black hell, but I'm trying to get used to it." Elwia broke down, her shoulders slouching down as she held on to the lectern in front of her.
Draco, who was still slightly weak from the stab wound, rushed over to her and hugged her, walking her back to her seat.
Elwia cried for the rest of the duration of the ceremony. George's speech broke her heart as she imagined how she would've felt if she had lost Harry.
"I see you in every mirror I walk past. There's no escaping you, Freddie, and I'm sure I'll never be okay again."
Voldemort and his followers had robbed innocent people of their families since the 1970s.
Marlene McKinnon, Dorcas Meadowes, James and Lily Potter, Alice and Frank Longbottom, Mary MacDonald, Cedric Diggory, Apolline Delacour, Alastor Moody, Mattheo Riddle, Fred Weasley, Lavender Brown, Colin Creevey, and thousands more innocent muggles, wizards, and witches.
But it had finally come to an end. He couldn't hurt anyone anymore.
October 1998
Elwia was rarely able to get a good night's sleep, as she kept having nightmares and panic attacks from the trauma she had endured. Dolohov, Voldemort, and Bellatrix were dead, but she still feared that they'd come back and take everything she held dear.
Luckily, Elwia had her family and friends there for her, and she tried to tell them about what had happened, in hopes that she would slowly heal of her wounds.
Draco still lived in the Malfoy Manor, but Elwia saw him almost every day, and they made up for the time they had lost. His own wound had healed nicely, and he was almost his own self again. Elwia made sure to thank herself and remind Draco that she had forced Felix Felicis down his throat.
On October 16th, 1998, Apolline Elwira Weasley was born into the world. Elwia couldn't believe her eyes when she looked at the innocent and healthy baby girl in front of her. Fleur named Elwia the godmother to her daughter, and she thought of it as the greatest honour there was.
