Chapter 05 // Friends? Friends....

Lights flash in front of my eyes resulting in patches of color blocking my vision for a second. I feel Jay grab my hand as they start yelling, all of their words jumble together into a sea of loud voices. I'm mostly used to the paparazzi, but the only times I've really encountered them is at the events that my parents take me to and even then most of the cameras were pointed at them. When me and Jay were dating we mostly kept it low key only getting caught a couple of times.

Right now they were swarming, Jay tightens his grip on my hand and he leads me to the car that had just pulled up a couple seconds ago ignoring the loud questions they were asking us. I get into the car muttering a quick hello to the driver.

"You ok?" Jay asks as he gets into the car slamming the door shut. I shrug I wasn't really bothered by this whole thing just surprised.

"Can you take us to Richmond Academy?" He asks the driver who gives us a thumbs up from the front seat not taking his eyes off the road. Jay takes his phone from out of his back pocket and starts typing furiously before finally pressing send.

"I just told my manager what happened and he says he going to try and take care of it but he might not be able too." He grimaces probably expecting me to lash out.

"It's fine, really." I reply. I just hope my mom doesn't get ahold of the pictures and start asking a millions questions. The rest of the ride was silent I spent most of it looking out the window at the passing cars and trees, and Jay spent it glued to his phone saying that he was just taking care of some post-tour stuff.

I sigh as we pull into the drop off lane in front of the main building. Jay's eyes were still glued to his phone and I get it that he has to take care of some things bus now that we've sort of patched things up I miss the old him the one that was my best friend, the one who always had my back throughout middle school and the beginning of highschool. Right now it just feels like i'm here by myself and things are never going to go back to the way they were. I walk slowly trying to match my pace with Jay's and I quickly grab my phone out of my back pocket. I frown when I see three texts messages from Beckett asking me where I was and then a missed call from Haley. I slip my phone back in my pocket as we enter the elevator and I press the button for the ninth floor which was Beckett's floor. Jay had finally put his phone down and now he was just staring at his shoes biting his lip. I open my mouth to say something but the elevator beats me by dinging as the doors automatically opening and we both step out into the bright long hallways.

Silently I lead Jay to Beckett's door that I faintly remember from the last time I was at his dorm. I stop in front of the black door and I knock twice tapping my foot on the carpeted floors waiting for him to open the door. A couple seconds later the door swings open to reveal at flushed Beckett. His hair was a mess which in the almost two weeks I've known him has never happened and his was wearing grey sweatpants and a baggy shirt that had a suspicious weird grey-brown stain on it.

Basically he was a mess, "Beck? What happened?" I ask worried as I walk into his dorm almost forgetting that Jay was still here. I turn around and look at him in the door and he raised his eyebrows silently asking if he should come in. I glance at Beck who has retreated back to the couch.

"Sorry," I say with a sad smile. "It's fine, I have some work to do anyway text me later ok?" I nod and he walks off hopefully able to find his way back to the main building. I turn my attention to Beck who was still on the couch switching trough television channels. I walk over to him and plop myself beside him.

"What happened?" I ask quietly grabbing the purple blanket that was beside me and throwing it onto of me. He stay quiet for a second and then he sighs, "He broke up with me."
