- Chapter - Forty - Eight -
"Wait that came out wrong." Emily nervously adds quickly and I look at her frozen with shock.
"Emily?" I ask werily and she sighs shaking her head.
"It's a long story." She admits and I weigh my options before taking a seat on her bed.
"I've got time." I finally sigh crossing my legs over one another and she pulls the picture frame closet to her closing her eyes.
"It started when I was about nine. My mom was a actor Klara Gomez, she was pretty big one she had a recurring role in a popular television show back then." She starts and I nod along recognizing her name, my mom used to be a fan.
"She started to get these letters, it started off as love letters but then they quickly escalated into something even more. She ignored them for a little while because it's normal for these types of things to happen when your in the spotlight."
I want to ask her what any of this has to do with her not being Emily. But as she's talking she has this far away look on her face, like she trying to remember this thing that must've happened years ago.
"The letters started to become angrier and more often that my mom started getting scared, but she broke when someone broke into the house and left a note on her bed. We dropped everything and packed our bags all the way to texas."
My heart hammers and a bad feeling starts bubbling up inside me as I wait for her to continue with the story.
"Things were fine there until about two years ago, one day I came home from school and the house was quiet which at the time was not normal. I went into her room and I found her there on the floor dead, a pool of blood surrounding her with a note right beside her." Emily continues and a gut wrenching feeling passing through me the thought of even having to go through seeing something like that.
"The note read, it didn't have to come to this." She adds with a shaky breath opening her tear filled eyes and then do I realize that I'm also crying with her.
I get up off the bed and embrace her into my arms trying to keep myself together as her body shakes in my arms.
"After that, I moved and changed my name from Yasmin Gomez to Emily Jackles and I've been bouncing around from place to place until this year." She begins again pulling herself away from me wiping away her tears.
"The special agent assigned to my case enrolled me into here. She thought that if I went here as a normal student I'd have the best protection and nobody would or want to look me up." She explains.
