"Where are we going?" I ask crossing my arms as Jasper calmly drives. I sent a text to Hayley just a couple seconds before telling her that I'm going out to lunch with Jasper and she is just as shocked as I am that I agreed.
"It's a surprise."
"I don't like surprises."
He doesn't reply and I turn away looking out the window of his white car, a black suv trailing us his security undoubtedly.
A couple of minutes pass of painfully awkward silence and we pull up in front of him and Chloe's house.
"When I said lunch, I meant McDonald's or Shake Shack not your house ." I comment as the gates open.
"There's food here." He offers and I give him an unamused look.
"You can't cook, I for sure can't cook so what to eat?"
"I'll have someone prepare something for us." He counters as we step out of the car.
"Are we going to talk or?" I question and Jasper frowns as we walk up the stairs to the door.
"Aren't we going to at least eat first?" Jasper asks reaching into his pocket and grabbing his keys before opening the door.
"No, because I would like to get this over with as soon as possible." I inform him harshly getting tired of waiting to hear his explanation. I walk into the house trying to remember the last time I was in here.
"Look Brooklyn, it was a mistake and what I did with Emily meant nothing to me." He starts.
"Why did you do it?"
I meet his eyes and I see something flash through them but he stays quiet as we both walk into the empty kitchen.
"Why did you do it?" I ask again sitting down on a stool looking at him tears threatening to fall from my eyes. When he doesn't answer for the second time, I shake my head standing up.
"I'm leaving." I say in disbelief turning around.
"Wait!" Jasper speaks grabbing my arm and pulling me back towards him. I wince as his fingernails dig into my skin but he doesn't notice.
"You have to understand Brooklyn, I couldn't deal with seeing you with Moreno." He murmurs placing a hand to my check and I flinch trying to step away from him.
