"This is my favorite time of year." Hayley sighs looking out the window of our last class of the day at the light barely visible snowfall.
Before we knew it fall rolled by and winter sneaked up on us. The snowfall is supposed to me record-breaking for here in New York and everyone is here at Richmond is preparing, and by that I mean their jetting off to Costa Rica in their private planes trying to avoid the snow.
Our teacher decided to give us a free period to study but most of the students are just using it as a social hour.
"Where are you going for the break?" I ask Jared who's currently leaning back in his chair next to me any second now threatening to fall and hit head on the marble floors.
"Both of my parents are away on business so I'm just spending break at my place alone." He shrugs and I nod along with Hayley.
"Me too, except I'm staying on campus. Both of my parents are in Asia right now trying to get some deal for their company." I relate before turning to Hayley who's busy on her phone.
"How about you?"
She looks up and sighs through her mouth. "I'm flying out in two days to stay at my parent's place in Paris for a couple of days before flying to London to spend the rest of break." She explains sounding like she's dreading it more than anything.
"At least you're getting to see your parents all I get is a couple of presents shipped here and an unconfirmed Skype call." I frown and Jared reaches out to put a hand on my shoulder.
"You can spend Christmas at my place, a couple of my friends that go to Kingston who also has too busy parents to spend Christmas with them are coming over." He offers and I shoot him a grateful smile.
"Sounds like a plan."
Just as I say that the bell rings through the hallway making everyone in the class stand up and rush out of the classroom. I get up grabbing my bag before heading out Jared and Hayley following.
"I think they're eating here today," Hayley announces from next to me as we turn left to the cafeteria and Jared lets out an approving groan. I stop in front of a vending machine as I take out a bill and watch it eat it up before a bag of Doritos comes out. Shoving it into my bag I walk faster to catch up to Hayley and Jared who'd walked ahead talking with each other.
"I don't think I could've waited that long if we went out." He comments pushing open the doors holding it open for Hayley and me.
"You can't even last a whole period without something to eat," Hayley adds and Jared laughs.
"I can't help it."
The grip of my bag tightens when I see Jasper and Chloe seated next to each other at our table. Biting my lip not wanting to sit there by myself with them while Hayley and Jared get food my eyes wander around the full cafeteria before landing on Emily's table. They're only a couple people sitting there most of them I don't recognize except Emily and her roommate who I never got a name from.
