"I am in you and you in me, mutual in divine love."

"Rooh, I want to say something," I said softly, prompting her to break the hug and look at me, her red, puffy eyes shimmering with a mixture of confusion and weariness.
"I know you’re not ready for this, so I won’t ask for anything more. But we really need to leave. I want you to come with me because it’s not safe for you to stay here." My voice was calm but firm, carrying the weight of my growing concern for her safety.
She remained silent, her lips pressed into a thin line as if processing my words. Her exhaustion was evident in the way her shoulders slumped and her gaze faltered. She had been through so much; it was no wonder she looked like she was barely holding herself together. But I couldn’t—no, wouldn’t—leave her here.
Dealing with that bastard who dared to threaten her could come later. Right now, my priority was her safety.
"Come with you? But where?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly. There was a raw vulnerability in her tone that tugged at something deep inside me.
"My home," I replied, my eyes never leaving hers.
Her brows shot up, and she stared at me as if I had lost my mind. "What?" she asked, clearly thinking she had misheard me.
"My house, Rooh," I repeated firmly. There was no room for argument in my voice.
"Do you even hear what you’re saying?" she asked, her horrified expression making her look both adorable and infuriating.
"Yes, I do, Rooh. And I’d appreciate it if you did as well," I countered, my voice taking on an edge of impatience. "I’m not leaving you here alone. Let’s just go."
Before she could protest further, I scooped her up into my arms in one swift motion, ignoring her startled gasp.
"Dev, no. That’s a terrible idea," she said, wriggling in my hold, but I tightened my grip on her, making it clear that I wasn’t letting go.
As I strode toward the elevator, I shot back, "No, it’s the best idea."
"Dev, no!" she insisted, her voice rising.
"Ruhanika, yes," I replied, smirking at the incredulous look she gave me.
Her squirming grew more frantic as we stepped into the elevator. "Dev, put me down! We’re in the lift, for heaven’s sake," she hissed, her cheeks flushing with a mixture of frustration and embarrassment.
"So?" I asked nonchalantly, savoring the warmth of her in my arms.
"What do you mean, ‘so’? I have legs, and I can walk!" she snapped, kicking her legs in the air for emphasis.
I bit back a grin, amused by her fiery defiance. "Darling, I know you have legs. I also know that the moment I put you down, you’ll try to run. And that’s not happening."
Her face fell, and she stilled in my arms, her lips parting as if to argue, but no words came. I knew her too well. She would bolt the second she got the chance, and I wasn’t about to let that happen.
"Dev, listen to me," she began, her tone softer but no less insistent. "I can’t stay here, but I also can’t go to your home. I’ll call my friends and stay with them. It makes more sense—"
"No, it doesn’t," I interrupted, my tone leaving no room for debate. My jaw clenched as I continued, "Why should it make sense? The only person I trust with your safety is me. My mansion has the best security, and you’ll stay there until I deal with that asshole and send him straight to hell."
