"I still fall in love with you every day."

Ruhanika

And that's how, after one year, we welcomed our baby boy, Rudhan Pratap Singh, into our lives. He was the sunshine that brightened our days. We found him through an NGO that had rescued him after he had been heartlessly abandoned near the temple when he was just two days old.

Our journey to Rudhan was filled with anticipation and hope. We had been on the waiting list for what felt like an eternity, and every passing day intensified our longing. The thought of choosing a baby felt unnatural to me because babies are not objects to be selected. They are tiny souls deserving of love and care. So, we waited for fate to bring our child to us, and it did in the most unexpected yet beautiful way.

When the call finally came, informing us that a baby was available for adoption, our hearts soared. The moment we saw him, we knew he was ours. Holding him for the first time, I couldn't hold back my tears. I was overwhelmed with emotions, feeling an instant and profound connection with this little being. Dev was equally enchanted. He gazed at Rudhan with such adoration, as if he was the most precious treasure he had ever seen.

The naming ceremony was a joyous occasion, filled with laughter and happy tears. Every member of our family was enamored with our little Rudhan. Our Amayra was ecstatic to have a baby to play with. She couldn't stop giggling and touching his tiny hands and feet, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Nandita, Samrat, and Virat were eager to become his mentors, already planning the countless things they would teach him. Whether it was sports, music, or life lessons, they wanted to be an integral part of his upbringing. Our mothers, Maa and Janki Amma had tears of joy in their eyes as they looked at Rudhan. It was a poignant moment, seeing the generations of our family united by this tiny new member.

Rudhan was indeed beautiful, with his delicate features and innocent eyes that seemed to hold the wisdom of the universe. As Dev and I held him together, our hearts swelled with pride and love. I felt an overwhelming sense of fulfillment—I was finally a mother. Dev, usually composed and strong, was visibly moved, his eyes reflecting the depth of his emotions.

At that moment, surrounded by our loving family and holding our precious Rudhan, I knew our lives had changed forever. We had embarked on a new journey, one filled with endless love, joy, and cherished moments. Our baby boy had come into our lives, not by chance, but by destiny, and he had already woven himself into the fabric of our hearts.

Rudhan was just one month old when we brought him home. From the very beginning, our baby boy was remarkably calm. Unlike many newborns, he never cried in the middle of the night. He would wake up, drink his milk, and then drift back to sleep peacefully, never causing us any worry. His serene demeanor was a blessing, allowing us to adjust to parenthood with ease.

As he grew, Rudhan's calm nature remained unchanged. He would play quietly with his toys, content in his little world. Mealtime was never a struggle; he ate whatever we fed him without fuss. He listened attentively to everything we said, his wide, curious eyes taking in the world around him. Sometimes, I found myself worrying about his quietness, wondering if it was normal for a child to be so composed. But Maa reassured me, reminding me that Dev had been the same way in his childhood.

One of the most unforgettable moments was when Rudhan first called me "Mama." The sweetness of his voice brought tears to my eyes. It was a simple word, but it held so much love and trust. Despite his calm nature, Rudhan was incredibly attached to me. He wouldn’t let me out of his sight, clinging to me with a possessive grip. Our family lovingly called him a mummy's boy, but that didn't mean he loved his father any less. The bond between Dev and Rudhan was strong and filled with mutual admiration.
