Chapter 109 - Working The Night Shift

AARON'S POV:

When Juliette takes James and leaves the room, is when the real... fighting, escalates.

JULIETTE'S POV:

I have no idea what's going on and, be be fair, I don't know if I do actually want to know.

Yesterday was when everything took place, and last night Aaron didn't come to bed, that, to me, is very worrying.

I am not worrying too much, because sometimes Aaron will sleep on a couch in a meeting room or something, if he works until he can't keep his eyes open any longer.

Because of Aaron's lack of presence last night, I haven't slept a wink at all. It's now 9am and I have nothing but coffee to run on. So that's where I am going, to the food hall to get some coffee.

Taking significantly more time than usual, I make my way to the canteen.

"J!" Kenji's upbeat voice turns something in my gut that makes me shiver with enviousness.
I want to feel joyful like that. "Wow you look like crap!"

I scoff. "Wow, thanks Kenji."

All he does to respond is blow me a kiss and smirk. I hate it when he acts all sassy.

So, there I sit, fighting my way through a long and boring breakfast, only really paying attention as to if Aaron shows up...

He doesn't.

It's almost lunch time, and enough if enough, I can't find my fiancé!

As panic attacks me, from the inside out, I rush down the hallways, desperately hoping to spot Aaron in one of the rooms I pass by.

"Miss Ferras." I hear Delelui say from behind me, whilst I'm walking down the hallway trying to find Aaron.

"Oh hello Delelui, is everything okay?" I smile, turning to him.

He's holding a notebook and a file case, the words, CONFIDENTIAL written in red writing on its cover. "Have you seen Warner?"

I shake my head. "No, I haven't, he didn't come back to his room last night, then he didn't show for breakfast, and I can't find him. I was actually looking for him right now."

Delelui cocks his head to the side. "Huh?" He furrows his eyebrows. "He left to go to his room at around midnight, last night."

"...what?"

"Didn't he go to his room?" He seems to peek with worry, much like I.

I shake my head. "No, he didn't."

"Aaron!" I shout as I take off towards the CCTV room.

"Miss Ferras!" Shouts Delelui running after me. "Please wait!"

So, me and Delelui go to the CCTV room, accessing the cameras.

AARON'S POV:

The night before:

I'm walking back to my room, wanting nothing more than to see my love, Juliette.

"Warner." I hear a voice call.

My head turns, looking towards the sound. Before I can see who's there, a cloth is held up to my mouth and nose, the sharp smell telling me all I need to know, to knock that, within the next few seconds, I'm going to be unconscious.

JULIETTE'S POV:

I don't understand what happened. The CCTV footage just shows this one man, dressed in all black, coming up behind Aaron in the corridor, and putting someone over his mouth and nose that causes him to lose consciousness.

Then, after, the figure drags him away, not showing up on any CCTV after that.

"How could they just disappear?" Delelui says, obviously thinking out loud.

"I don't know."

AARON'S POV:

I don't know where I am, the whole room is dark and I can't see a thing. I am tied up on a chair, hands bound behind my back. I can't feel any pain, or any noticeable discomfort.

JULIETTE'S POV:

Me, Delelui, Kenji and Castle, all search the sector. Me and Kenji take the north and east of the sector, and Delelui and Castle take south and west.

"Kenji just shut up!" I complain. Kenji has this habit where he rambles on and on when there is silence. I think he feels the need to fill that silence, but it just makes the atmosphere even more awkward.

"Right, sorry." He apologies. "I'll shut up now."

I feel the air become thick with unsaid truths that ache with want, and need, to be spoken. Though, they won't be. They can't be. Because they're too painful to think, let alone say.

Nibbling at my fingernails, we continue the walk around the outdoors. A habit that I didn't even know I had until this very moment.

Then, Kenji takes a deep breath, and says, "we'll find him, J." Kenji puts a hand on my shoulder. "I mean, he's Warner!" He carries on. "There's almost nothing in this world that can stop that guy."

I nod, trying to cling onto that with all the hope I can gather.

Suddenly Kenji puts his hand in front of me, to bring me to a short holt. "Wait," he breathes. "Never tell him I said that!"

Normally, I would have chuckled at that remark, but right now, I can't even imagine smiling, until I have him in my arms again.

After two hours of looking we all meet up back on base.

"Did anyone find anything of use?!" I am pleading that Castle and Delelui found something on their side of the sector.

"No, Miss Ferras." Castle shakes his head, showing the inevitable disappointment, wash over him.

I shake my head, feeling the frustration overtake me. "Whoever took him, can't have just disappeared!"

Kenji's, stating the obvious, says, "well they did."

...

That's when it clicks.

"Oh my god!" I shout up onto my feet.

The three men look at me like I might have gone mad.

"What is J?"

Castle also speaks up. "Is everything okay, Miss Ferras?"

I walk over to the front of the room, facing the men.

"The problem is that we don't know where the kidnappers took Aaron because they made their way around all the CCTV cameras, right?"

"Yeah." "Yes." "And..?" they all say at the same time.

"What I'd the cameras didn't pick anything up, not because they dodged all the cameras." I say. "What if it's because they never left the base..."
