Great-grandson of CIA Special Officer Russell Adler and younger brother of Jessica Adler, James is a former US Special Forces operator who got recruited by the CIA. He's aware of his great-grandfather's brainwash against X12's original host, Bell and wasn't proud of it. But X12 reassured him that he's not Russell Adler. He fought in the Second Korean War, alongside Jack Mason and Cole Woods. He also works alongside Quincey Bowman. After Jessica defected, he was determinated to bring her sister back at first, but he tearfully respects her decision after finding out the reason of her betrayal.
