Son of Dr. Huey Emmerich and Strangelove. Close friend of the Legendary Solid Snake. Father of Naomi "Hinata" Emmerich and adoptive father of Sunny Emmerich. Nicknamed "Otacon" for being a devoted fan of anime, he was the chief engineer of Metal Gear REX, before Liquid Snake and the Sons of Big Boss took over during the Shadow Moses Incident in 2005. He was rescued by Solid Snake during the incident. Later that year, he and Snake founded the anti-Metal Gear NGO Philanthropy. In 2008, he got married with a Japanese woman named Haruka Miyamoto and they had Hinata. Haruka named her Naomi like her friend, Naomi Hunter. While she dedicated herself to raise Hinata and support Otacon, the latter helped Solid Snake and Raiden. However, in 2012, Haruka died in a car incident, Hinata and Otacon were devastated but Snake comforted them and encouraged them to move on. Following the Guns of the Patriots Incident and the final days of Snake, he dedicated himself to raise both Sunny and Hinata. He was also aware of the Ghosts, because Snake told him how he met Elias T. Walker, codenamed Scarecrow. Otacon was also aware of the reputation of the Walker Brothers. He was also friends of Frank Martin, Camillo Flores and an aquaintance of Herny J. Morse. When he heard about Hinata being in danger at the Shallow of Death, Otacon went to the island to save her, by using his Metal Gear Mk. III. While he was reuniting with his daugther, he met Camillo's niece, Lucia "Snake" Flores and FTac Recon. At first, he thought he saw Solid Snake, but then, when he looked at the both of them closely, he realised they were different people. He was willing to help the G.H.O.S.T. to stop the Boss Team from using Metal Gear TARANTULA, after discovering that someone used her daughter to build it. He was amazed to see the S T-Dolls for the first time. He took a liking of FTac Recon and Lucia Flores, because they remind him of Solid Snake, his close friend.
