"You're hiding something from me, huh?" Queen Margaret looked at her husband from the corner of her eyes. She could see he looked so happy all of a sudden. For the past five months, he had been lonely, thinking about his little warrior. She missed her daughter too, but she tried hard to make her husband happy, masking her own loneliness.
"Nothing." King Edwin smiled mysteriously and playfully while playing with the fork in his hand. "You'll see."
"What? You are making me curious. Spit it out, okay?" Margaret pursed her lips and blinked, acting cute.
However, King Edwin didn't fall into her honey trap as he shrugged nonchalantly.
"You're so bad," Margaret complained, glaring at him.
Just then, the door to the dining room was pushed open and a servant stepped in, seemingly in a hurry. "Your Majesty, she..."
Edwin quickly interrupted him by commanding, "Ask her to come in."
"Who?" Queen Margaret looked into his blue eyes that lit up like two candles. His joy was palpable. It made her heart burn with jealousy. "Who's that woman?" This time, her voice was much louder.
King Edwin couldn't help but chuckle. He could see his wife practically burn with jealousy. Her face was red and her cheeks puffed. She looked so adorable.
Hoping to make her angrier, he answered, "The second person I love the most."
Margaret narrowed her eyes. She was about to throw another question when someone came in, clinking her small heels against the marble floor, making a sound that was smooth and comforting to hear.
And then, the familiar voice of their beloved daughter rang in the room. "Father, mother, I'm back!"
Margaret gasped in shock as the spoon slipped from her hand, striking the plate with a sharp 'ting.' "Z-Zadhea? How... how are you here?"
The king quickly stood up from his seat and rushed to his daughter's side with wide arms. "Little warrior!"
Zadhea let him pull her into his arms and snuggled against him like a kitten. "Father! I missed you!"
"I missed you too, my baby." He stroked her shoulder lovingly with a warm smile on his face.
Watching this scene, Margaret's eyes welled up in tears, and she secretly wiped them before the father-daughter duo could catch her. "Daughter, what are you doing here? Don't you have classes to attend?" She also rose from her seat and approached the two of them. "How's your fiancé?"
"Mom!" Zadhea pulled herself out of her father's warm embrace and glanced at her mother tiredly. "Why so many questions?"
"Let her take a breath," her father said, taking her side as usual. "Ask questions later."
"But..." Margaret bit her bottom lip, feeling reluctant. "Why did you come here so soon? Did you inform the headmaster before leaving?"
Zadhea nodded. "I did. And I came here because I want to make our country better." She raised her chin high. "I almost forgot my main purpose, but now I'm going to work on it."
It was true.
When she went to Ashenara Academy and met Heidith, over time, she began to slowly forget about her mission. It was like she lived in a whole other fantasy world created by her stupid mind.
But now, reality crashed down on her with her father's letter. She recalled what she had to do, and she realized she was doing something entirely different all this time. Unbeknownst to herself, her life began to revolve around Heidith. It wasn't good at all. It wouldn't make her succeed in going back to her world. It would only make matters complicated.
