Zadhea was stupefied. She kept looking at Levis blankly, unable to say anything.

On the other hand, Sully was alert. He shook Levis's shoulders, hoping to snap him to his senses. "Calm down! Just take a deep breath and then tell us what's wrong."

Levis looked like a terrified rooster about to be slaughtered. He looked around frantically before asking, "Where's that witch? She almost killed me with that green snake!"

"Stella?" This time, Zadhea spoke, tilting her head and knitting her brows, feeling confused. "She has a snake?"

Levis nodded vigorously, like a rattle. "She has! She has! She slapped Heidith when he tried to leave the infirmary to look for you. I tried to leave too, to report her actions, but before I could, she took out that snake. I can't remember what happened after that. Wait, how am I still alive if she poisoned me?"

"What?" Zadhea was even more confused. "This whole thing is a puzzle to me. I can't understand what's happening." She held her head in her hands as a wave of frustration washed over her. Suddenly, her eyes widened as realization hit her. "Levis!" She looked directly into his eyes. "Does it mean... Wait, wait, does it mean... Heidith never asked me not to visit him?"

Levis stopped his tantrum when he heard her words. His eyes flashed with guilt as he lowered his gaze to the ground. "No, Edwina sis. It's my fault. In fact, he badly wanted to see you when he learned that you cooked for him."

Zadhea's brain stopped functioning. She didn't know what to say or do anymore. She just stood frozen on the spot, looking lifeless, like a piece of wood.

"Do you know today's date?" Sully broke the silence, his mind clouded with lots of possibilities. "You weren't poisoned. You were hypnotized. I think Stella did that to you, using that snake. As for Heidith, he's recovered long ago. A lot of things happened after that..."

Zadhea added, "You became Stella's loyal dog, Levis. I can't believe she could go to that extent just to..." Her voice trailed off. She now understood very well what Stella's motives were.

She was in love with Heidith!

Zadhea had guessed it a long time ago, but she didn't think Stella would plan something so lowly like that just to break their relationship.

Stella didn't want to harm Heidith, and she'd never harm him. She just wanted him for herself.

And...

Zadhea clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white.

Stella's plan succeeded.

Zadhea felt so stupid. Nonetheless, she couldn't help but think how commendable Stella's plan was. It was truly remarkable, with no visible flaws.

"Wow!" She shook her head, amazed. "I'm going to collect evidence. Heidith needs to know what kind of snake she truly is. I warned him about her, but he didn't listen to me..." She felt mad at him, but more at herself for falling into Stella's trap like an idiot.

She should have trusted Heidith.

Zadhea's heart sank at that thought.

It was her fault too.

She knew she had to apologize to Heidith for not believing him.

"Zadie, is that really you?!" Sinadi exclaimed in disbelief before running along the corridor, reaching their side in no time. "Where have you been? I was so worried!" She pounced on her, possessively holding onto her like a giant koala.

Zadhea couldn't breathe. She tapped on her forearms, signaling Sinadi to loosen her grip. "I went somewhere... Sorry, it was an emergency, so I couldn't tell you before leaving."
