Following season 4 episode 8 of Good Girls.
20 Weeks Pregnant
Tuesday Night;
Lucky's Bar;
Beth;
"I can't go to jail! Do you know how traumatizing it'd be for my kids to have both parents go to jail?" I exclaim.
"Not if you do it right," Rio states.
"I can't risk it. Maybe they'll drop the case if I continue not to give them anything good," I insist. I wish I had Rio's confidence.
His eyes narrow at me.
"Do you like spending time with Saige again?" he asks coolly. Holding his gaze, I swallow before slowly nodding my head. In the last month, I've been helping Saige paint, decorate, go shopping; I've pretty much agreed to do anything with her just to spend time with her again.
"I can make that stop in the snap of a finger. I tell her something that makes her think you're out to get me again, poof, she never wants to talk to you again," Rio darkly smirks. Anger constricts in my chest but I hold it in, knowing how true his statement could be.
"I thought you needed me," I say. Rio nods.
"I do...but not your husband. Ex-husband? Whatever. How devastating would it be for your kids' to lose their dad at such a young age?"

Saige and Rio's House;
Wednesday Afternoon;
Saige;
"Marcus looks just like you," I chuckle. Ruth had stopped by to see the new house and to leave a photo album with pictures of Rio. Marcus looks just like his dad did as a kid.
"When did you start boxing?" I wonder, looking at rows of pictures of Rio in a boxing ring, ranging from I'd guess ten to sixteen years old.
"I started going to a boxing gym when I was ten. Nick and I started boxing each other years before that," Rio answers. I notice his voice become tight when he mentioned Nick's name.
"You're not too close with him anymore, huh?" I ask, flipping to the next page. I can feel Rio's arm tense around my shoulders.
"He has a trustworthy face but isn't someone you should trust," Rio mutters. I open my mouth to ask more but his phone bings.
"I have to get going back to work. I'll be home in a couple of hours." Rio pecks my cheek and quickly gets up from the couch.
"Saved by a text," I think to myself.
Beth's House;
"What brings you here?" Beth smiles.
"I'm bored. Rio left to go back to work," I pout, sitting at the kitchen island. Beth chuckles.
"I'm your last resort, huh?" Beth smirks. Part of me wants to say yes because Grace and Mick are away on an anniversary trip to Boston, and we had agreed to close the shop down for the week; Annie and Ben are at Ben's lacrosse game, and I had such bad morning sickness that I opted to not risk it and go; it's Lucy's weekend at the tattoo shop; and Rhea and Marcus are on a mom and son day date.
"Feel lucky," I smirk back.
Deciding to help Beth fold laundry, knocking at her front door has both our heads turning. Beth walks to the door, taking a look through the peep hole before unlocking and opening the door.
