Following season 4 episode 9 of Good Girls.
I just HAD to add a picture from the boxing scene. 🫠
Saige;
Hearing the front door unlock, I turn my head to see Rio walk inside. Wiping the last of my tears, relief floods through me seeing him here and not in jail. Standing up to hug him, I stop in my tracks as Beth steps inside, standing next to Rio. Angry tears start to roll down my cheeks, my pregnancy hormones through the roof because I just stopped crying and now I'm crying again!
"You need to talk with us outside," Rio more-so demands, seeing Marcus asleep on the couch. I follow the two outside into the chilly October night, crossing my arms and setting my glare on my aunt.
"Didn't you get my text? I don't want to see or hear from you ever again!" I angrily mutter.
"Saige, I just need you to let me explain--"
"Explain? Explain what? How else would Secret Service know that Rio was going to show up tonight?" I shout.
"Saige, I need you to listen. I promise you that I didn't know that they'd show up tonight. Dave made it seem like his boss was about to close the case when I spoke to them earlier today. Phoebe seemed like she was catching on to me working with Rio, and I guess they decided to tail me," Beth explains. I raise an unimpressed eyebrow at her.
"I'm supposed to believe that? This is coming from the same person who shot my fiancé three times and hired at hitman to kill him!" I snap.
"I know it has to be hard to believe, but I truly do promise you, Saige, that I would never do anything to hurt or put away Rio," Beth says, almost begging.
"If she had purposely gotten me arrested, do you think I'd agree to let her come over here and talk to you?" Rio points out. I take a quick glance at him and then back to Beth.
He's right.
"I'm sorry," I murmur an apology to Beth. She gives me a smile, squeezing my shoulder.
Saying goodbye to Beth, Rio and I head inside. I head upstairs to our bedroom, while Rio picks up Marcus and carries him upstairs to his bedroom.
Coming out of the attached bathroom wearing one of Rio's white t-shirts--they've become my favorite clothing item to wear to bed in the last two weeks--Rio is changing into a pair of black joggers.
"Nick had to have been the one to help you get out," I say. Rio turns around, a harsh look on his face at the mention of Nick.
"He's a city councilmen. He stopped by Beth's house earlier this week and left a flyer," I continue before he can interrupt.
"Did he talk to you?" Rio asks.
"No. He didn't even know I was there. Beth had me go upstairs, but I listened in on their conversation. He basically told her to stay away from you," I answer. Rio sighs, running both hands down his face.
"He's been on the city council for the last twelve years. He has good connections with one of the district attorneys. He's the reason myself and others in the business have been able to get out without charges being pressed on them," Rio explains.
"Why do you hate him so much if he helps you and your people out so much?" I wonder.
"He plays dirty, Darling. He plays dirty to get his way to the top and likes to abuse his power. You know, I never planned to get into this line of work, to become a criminal. I wanted to become a professional boxer and was on my way to be. I was training in this prestigious gym and was working with a really well-known trainer.
