Chapter 91: Steer for the Clouds! Capture the South Bird!



Usopp, Luffy, Yushiro, Nami and Chopper were sitting around a table outside with Cricket standing in front of them.

Zoro was sitting behind all of them with his head low, probably drifting off to sleep.

"What do you need to tell us, old guy?", Usopp asked curiously.

"Here. I'll start by telling you everything I know about the sky island.", Cricket said. "None of it's certain, but it's up to you if you wanna believe it or not!"

They all just stared at him blankly.
"Yeah. We'll believe you.", Luffy said flatly.

"Geez, you're fast!", Usopp deadpanned as he slapped Luffy's shoulder.

"There's a strange phenomenon that occurs in these waters--", Cricket said and pointed at the sky with the sea behind him.
"sometimes it'll turn into night, even though it's the middle of the day."

"Yeah!", Luffy jumped up a bit and raised his hand like he was in class.
"We saw that! Right?", he turned to his crew mates.

"Yeah! Night came, and some monsters appeared!", Chopper admitted as he trembled a bit at the memory.

"The giants? There's a story about where they came from, but forget 'em for now.", Cricket said and crossed his arms.
"This sudden nightfall....
It's caused by the shadows if extremely compact clouds..."

"You mean cumulonimbus clouds?", Nami spoke up. "But it was too dark to be clouds...."

"Wow! You're so dumb old guy!", Luffy exclaimed. "It gets cloudy on days when there's lots of clouds!"

"Yeah! Cloudy!!", Usopp nodded.

"Cloudy!", Chopper jumped happily from his spot into the air a little.

"It sounds even more offensive coming from you, y'know...", Yushiro commented as he looked at Luffy beside him.

Cricket got annoyed by all of their comments. "Shut up and listen💢!"

He calmed down and continued explaining. "There are clouds known as "cumuloregalis clouds." They pile high into the sky but produce no air currents or rain.
When they appear high in the sky, even sunlight is blocked out, bringing afternoon "nighttime" to the ground."

Usopp, Nami and Luffy's mouths were open from surprise as they listened to Cricket explaining.

Yushiro just had his eyebrows raised in interest.

"One theory has it that cumuloregalis clouds are fossilized clouds that have floated in the sky for thousands and thousands of years."

Then, Nami got up. "That's ridiculous! Clouds with no air currents even after building up?"

"You're free to believe they can't exist. I'm not asking you to believe me!"

"They're mystery clouds, then?", Luffy thought out loud.

' the only time you're right about that mysterious term of yours, Luffy.', Yushiro looked thoughtful.

"Pretty much.", Cricket confirmed Luffy's thought. "There's still no explanation for them."

Chopper then got up and turned to Luffy with an amazed grin.
"You're amazing, Luffy!"

"Listen.", Cricket spoke up again. "Is a sky island really does exist... that'd be the only possible place!"

Luffy got up with a happy smile.
"Okay! Gotcha! Let's go above those clouds!"

Yushiro walked up to Zoro and pat him on the shoulder.
"Zoro, wake up. Luffy's decided to go somewhere."
