Before i start the chapter i just wanted to say that Yushiro has made his eyes human-like so he doesn't seem weird. He made like that the day before Shanks and his crew came to the village. So, the villagers, Makino, Luffy and Garp have seen his eyes.
It had become somewhat of a routine for the Red-Haired Pirates to visit Foosha Village. Over time, the villagers had come to accept their presence, recognizing that the crew posed no real threat. In fact, their visits seemed to serve as a natural deterrent for the local pirates—those small-time, no-name scallywags who often caused trouble. Whenever the Red-Haired Pirates arrived, the unruly troublemakers would see them, and, out of fear or respect, they'd scatter or run away without even needing to be challenged. Sometimes, the villagers themselves felt a wave of relief, knowing that the pirate crew's appearance kept the peace.
Yushiro, who had grown up here, didn't see the Red-Haired Pirates as enemies. To him, they were just visitors—though he didn't fully trust anyone. He believed that trust had to be earned through actions, not words. Their repeated visits had earned him a certain level of trust; he knew they didn't intend harm and trusted that they wouldn't cause trouble. But still, he kept a wary eye on them, ready to act if necessary. His instinct told him that actions, not reputation, proved who was truly trustworthy.
Today, the crew was busily sorting out barrels of supplies on the deck, preparing for their departure or restocking their ship. The atmosphere was casual, with laughter and chatter echoing across the ship's deck. Among them, Luffy was particularly lively, standing at the bow, eyes bright with excitement and mischief.
Suddenly, Shanks noticed him and called out sharply.
Shanks: "Oi! What are you doing, Luffy?"
Luffy, standing confidently with a wide grin, clenched his fists and declared loudly, with an unwavering tone.
Luffy: "Hmph! I'm not joking this time!! I've had enough!! I'm going to prove it to everyone!!"
Shanks raised an amused eyebrow, a chuckle escaping his lips.
Shanks: "Ha ha ha! Well, then! Go ahead and show us what you've got!"
Yasopp, leaning casually against a barrel, watched Luffy with a knowing smirk.
Yasopp: "Luffy's about to do something funny again. No doubt about it."
But instead of doing something typical or silly, Luffy did something completely unexpected. His expression hardened with determination, and he suddenly took a bold step forward. Without warning, he reached up and, with a quick motion, stabbed himself beneath his left eye with a small, pointed knife—an act that shocked everyone on deck.
The crew collectively froze, their eyes widening in disbelief.
Crew members: "WHA...?!"
Shanks's eyes nearly popped out of his head as he saw what Luffy was doing.
Shanks: "Argh! Luffy! What the hell are you doing?!"
Luffy, clutching his face and staggering back, yelped in pain.
Luffy: "OUCHH!!"
Blood welled up from beneath his eye, and he stumbled, more from shock than injury, but the pain was real. Tears welled in his eyes as he clutched his cheek, his face scrunched in discomfort.
Shanks, rushing over, looked both angry and bewildered. His voice was sharp and full of concern.
Shanks: "You idiot! What the hell is wrong with you?! Why would you do something so dangerous?!"
Luffy, blinking rapidly and trembling a little, tried to explain through clenched teeth, voice trembling.
Luffy: "Oww... I... I just wanted to prove... that I'm serious... I mean it! I can do something brave!"
The crew murmured among themselves, stunned by the reckless display. The scene was tense—Luffy's stubbornness and rashness shining through, as he desperately tried to show his resolve in a way that clearly wasn't necessary or wise.
