"You moved it?"

Was all that Zach gapped out for Issac and Brystal to realize they'd fallen into a trap. This wasn't a showcase room at all. Instead it looked like someone had been waiting for them to join someone for a dinner.

The table was set out like an old-fashioned Victorian dinner. Tall pale glasses were half-full of a dark maroon wine surrounded the wooden table Maybe even the whole meal had been waiting for them, but it felt like it was all just a setup.

The scents of rich fruit and spices twisted in darkly dimmed air. Though everything looked new and had just been prepared or even pulled out of an oven. Maybe it was replicator food, but that would've been odd for Arik's old-fashioned style.

Zach looked at the man at the head of the table who had a few guards standing by him. He had the look of completely shocked, but a hint of distrust in his eyes. It looked like he truly hadn't seen this coming.

"More of it was never there," The southern accent of the man told him.

Issac dreaded that voice he knew all too well. He'd been hoping he'd never see Arik ever again, but he should've known he wouldn't get that wish so easily. Instead he plastered his face with a  fake calm attitude.

Arik looked just the same as Issac last saw him. The man was in his later 60's and had been for many centuries. Wearing a sage green and light blue checkered jacket with the rest of his clothes in a doctor outfit, looking like he'd preformed something recently.

He may have been older than Elsa, but she was a better person than he was or ever will be.

Those glassy eyes staring into his soul. It felt like he could see through any lie that Issac was hiding inside himself. Secrets even buried deeper than the pain of losing his friends years ago.

"Ah, Mr. Merlin. And Brystal Pike. I've been expecting your company. I apologize for not giving Zach the right route to your mission."

"You.....tricked me?" Zach questioned, "Sir, you stated earlier that I-"

"Think about it logically, Z-345. Would I really pass onto you my most vulnerable possession in plain sight? I thought you knew better," Arik huffed, "Do you really think these guests want an audience with me?"

It sounded like a disappointed father, Zach's head bowing down very little in shame. He slowly walked away from Issac and Brystal. Something about the little boy made Brystal realize he was gong to be another pawn in Arik's game.

Those eyes were not ones full of distrust, it was actually pain that had been scarred on the poor boy for years. Ghosts of his past were dancing before his eyes. That twang in her heart made her understand that he had been in this game for years to know the consequences.

Zach didn't speak up.

He was afraid of Arik.

"I apologize for his incompetence," Arik turned to them with a cheerful grin hinted with wickedness, "Please do sit down."
