"Have you heard?" Alejandro turned his head from the corner of the room, having finished dressing himself into his ambassador clothing. Freshly ironed and looked new, but he'd had the clothes for at least over six years.
His and Adeline's girls, Ramona and Sofia were seated in the living room watching a show. Adeline seated at the dining room table, going over important papers. She always had to be working at some point in the day.
But she wasn't in much of a rush like he was. He was probably faster than a lightspeeed when he picked up his datapad that morning and rushed everything. Rushing breakfast, rushing with brushing his teeth, and rushing with getting dressed.
"What exactly?" Adeline looked up from her papers.
"That the Enterprise is coming back. Like next few minutes," Alejandro told her.
"Yes, I heard, but we don't need to rush it," Adeline tried to urge him.
"No! We do!" Alejandro stressed, "Some of Arik's loyal servants.....pretty much like disciples are here, demanding a trial. Callius has agreed, but wants to wait until the Enterprise gets here before starting the trials. And even that's not all! Turns out Arik was hiding kids for some sort of project he'd been doing for these past few years-"
"Stop!" Adeline exclaimed, "Just calm down....please.....I can't have you a nervous wreck when the other Ambassadors come."
Alejandro looked at her incredulously like she'd skipped some news. When she was more on top of today's pop culture than he ever would be. Except, for when it came to politics and what was going down on other planets, that was an important part of being an ambassador.
He finished pining his golden Starfleet insignia onto his chest. Entering the dining room once more to get a quick glimpse at what his girls were watching while the finished up homework. Smiling when he noticed it was none other than the Ghibli film "My Neighbor Totoro."
A love of the films they'd definitely earned from him. Those two girls were such inspiring rays of light to keep him moving through the day. Reminding him so much of how Adeline's mother described her as a child.
Adeline was already dressed in her dark blue Starfleet senator uniform. They worked together on paperwork with having similar causes of having to talk and speak out against other species at meetings. They'd need each others support and information.
"What parts of information did you even hear about the mission?" Alejandro questioned her.
"Most of that stuff was posted overnight. At times like putting the girls to bed and getting ready for bed ourselves," Adeline answered, taking a sip of her coffee, "What could I have exactly missed about this mission?"
She sounded so calm and spoke so nonchalantly. Without a care in the world like she could take her time before she greeted the crew back to Yalara. That slight made Alejandro shift to slight annoyance at his wife's tone.
