Brystal had found herself once again reading. Sticking her nose in a book, letting old pages slide against her skin when she turned the next page. It was her escape from her life, not like it was bad. Then again, she didn't know if her life would take a turn on her, even if it would do something to her at seven years old.
Her mother and father were both captains, ranking higher and higher on Starfleet standards. It was always one goes on a mission and the other takes care of her and Kit, or it was Callius who would take care of them for those days.
She couldn't complain though about it. She loved spending time with her godfather, looking at his collection of alien weapons and alien artifacts. How could she even say no to one of Aera's chocolate biscuits drizzled with its delectable lemon glaze?
But now was a good time just to relax and bask herself in the suns hues of light over her body. Sitting on a tree that had been planted and stood talk against the Callius Apartment. Inhaling the slightly metal air woven with Aera's blossoming tuilips.
Her legs swung up on the dark mahogany branch, draped with luscious green willow vines. She had already explored a lot of Starfleet headquarters, but she soon would give up and get back to reading. The whole headquarters was a labyrinth of hallways.
Sighing as she caught a glimpse of the world around her. The yellow honey colored skies that were fading into threads pink and orange. It seemed like she had been placed directly in the middle of a painting.
The rhythms of Radiohead echoing from her AirPods. She whispered the lyrics by heart to herself as she flipped the next page.
"What are you doing up there?" A young girls voice came by.
Brystal jolted out of her trance from the book and music, looking down at the ground to see Amaya. The small Afro haired girl dressed in vibrant shades of orange, pierced Brystals's brown orbs.
She frantically pulled the AirPods out of her ears, popping them back into their case, "Nothing!" Brsytal wanted to facepalm herself for saying that. It was obvious she couldn't be doing nothing.
"Yeah.....sure," Amaya rolled her eyes, "I know you well enough to know you're listening to the Radiohead song and reading The Secret Garden."
"The Book Thief and the song is called High And Dry," Brsytal corrected.
"Whatever," Amaya huffed as she looked up the tree, "Why do you have to read so much? We could be watching Gravity Falls.....Dragon Prince.....Black Mirror.....or even Loki!"
"Because I like to learn," Brsytal stated.
"Boring!!" Amaya groaned.
Brystal immediately shut her book at those words, knowing she shouldn't take it too seriously. Amaya was always one for action while she was one for words. Yet, the two's entirely clashing personalities didn't stop their friendship.
