Ashika's eyes, vacant and haunted, stared blankly ahead as she walked without purpose. The previous night's events replayed in her mind like a relentless nightmare. Arsh's deceitful smile, the client's grasping hands, and Kiaan's innocent face swirled together in a toxic mix.
Lost in her thoughts, Ashika didn't notice the approaching car. Suddenly, tires screeched, and a horn blared. She jolted back to reality, finding herself in front of a car that was an inch away.
Savi slammed on the brakes, her car screeching to a halt. She stared at the disheveled woman in front of her, her mind reeling.
"Seriously? First, Rajat, then Sai, and now this?" Savi muttered, frustration etched on her face.
Savi quickly exited the car and approached Ashika. "What happened? Are you okay. You look...lost."
Ashika's lips trembled, but no words came out. The dam holding back her emotions began to crack.
Savi's eyes widened as she took in Ashika's disheveled appearance and vacant expression. She didn't recognize the woman, but her instincts screamed concern.
"Ma'am, are you okay?" Savi asked gently, cautious not to startle her.
Ashika blinked, her gaze drifting past Savi. She muttered incoherently, her words lost in the wind.
Savi quickly assessed the situation. The woman seemed distressed, possibly in shock. She needed help.
Ashika's eyes rolled back, her body swaying before collapsing onto the pavement.
Savi rushed forward, catching Ashika's limp form.
"No! Wake up!" Savi cried, panic rising.
She gently laid Ashika down, checking her pulse. It was weak but present.
Savi's eyes scanned the area, searching for help. The deserted street offered no assistance.
With trembling hands, Savi dialed the emergency number.
"Hello? I need an ambulance...Yes, unconscious woman...Sending you address...Please hurry!"
As Savi waited, Ashika's pale face haunted her.
.......
Savi's eyes narrowed as she listened to the man's voice on the phone. Its familiarity sent a shiver down her spine.
"Who is this?" Savi was about to ask, trying to keep her tone neutral but before that the person on other side said,
"Don't you understand Ashika that I don't want to listen from you anything that you are calling me again and again." he replied, his tone laced with authority.
Savi's instincts flared. This was the same arrogance she'd encountered earlier that day – with Rajat.
"Ashika's in the hospital. She collapsed," Savi said, her words measured.
"That's her new game to made me meet her. Miss whoever you are. Call her boyfriend rather than me. I will be no help for you. Bye."
Whoever this man was. He had no basic etiquettes, someone was dying and he had no care for her.
It doesn't matter if she called her boyfriend or not but there is some basic manners and this person doesn't even know the way of talking, like that Thakkar.
After some time. Savi connected with Arsh after a lot of research and told him about Ashika condition and ask him to come soon.
As Savi hung up, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she'd just invited trouble.
Rajat's face flashed in her mind, followed by that rude person tone. Coincidence? Or something more?
Arsh burst into Room 304, a look of concern etched on his face. "Ashika, my love, what happened?"
Ashika, still pale, gazed up at him with a mix of relief and fear.
Savi watched, her skepticism growing. This was the same man Ashika had relationship, yet Ashika's expression hinted at dread.
Arsh turned to Savi. "Thank you for taking care of her. I'll handle everything now."
His charm and gratitude seemed forced, but Savi couldn't quite put her finger on it.
As Arsh efficiently handled the discharge papers, Savi's unease intensified. She felt like she was leaving Ashika in the lion's den.
"I'll go now," Savi said, her voice firm.
Ashika's eyes locked onto hers, a silent plea flashing between them.
Savi hesitated, but Arsh's reassuring smile and Ashika's subtle nod convinced her to leave.
As she stepped out, Savi couldn't shake off the feeling that she'd abandoned Ashika to her tormentor.
Outside, Savi took a deep breath, wondering if she'd misjudged the situation.
But as she turned to walk away, she heard Ashika's faint whisper in her mind: "Help me."
....
Savi entered Isha Maa's serene presence, her mind still reeling from the hospital encounter.
"Isha Maa, I need your guidance," Savi said, settling beside her.
Isha Maa's warm eyes focused on Savi. "What's troubling you, child?"
Savi recounted Ashika's collapse, Arsh's sudden appearance, and her own nagging doubts.
"...and now I'm wondering if I'm overthinking," Savi concluded.
Isha Maa listened attentively, her expression unreadable.
Isha Maa's expression shifted, her tone stern.
"Savi, stop worrying about others for once," Isha Maa said firmly. "You care for the whole world, but what about yourself?"
Savi's eyes widened, taken aback.
"Isha Maa, I—"
"No, Savi," Isha Maa interrupted. "You're always putting others first. Rajat, the lady you met on road...when will you prioritize your own happiness?"
Savi's thoughts stuttered. No one had ever questioned her motives like this.
"But Isha Maa, someone needs help," Savi protested.
"Help yourself first, Savi," Isha Maa emphasized. "Your own wounds need healing. Focus on your own path."
Savi felt a pang of self-doubt.
Was Isha Maa right? Was she neglecting her own well-being?
Savi's frustration boiled over. "Maa, why are you always coming down on me?"
Isha Maa's expression softened, her voice gentle. "Because you always put others first, Savi. First Sai, then this lady, tomorrow someone else. Can't you see? I want you to prioritize your own life, your own happiness."
Savi's eyes widened. "Marry? Maa, you know I'm not ready."
Isha Maa's hands clasped Savi's. "Ready or not, you need someone to care for you, to support you. Your selflessness will be your downfall."
Savi felt a lump form in her throat.
"Maa, I promise. I'll think about it," Savi said finally.
Isha Maa's face lit up with a warm smile. "That's all I ask."
