The first light of morning spilled into the room, brushing everything in soft gold.
Savi stirred under the blanket, the scent of something warm pulling her from sleep.
She blinked. Sat up slowly.
And there he was.
Rajat.
Standing by her side, holding a mug.
Steam curled from the rim. The aroma was unmistakable — her kind of coffee. A dash of cinnamon, no sugar. Just the way she liked it. The way he had seen her drink it a hundred times, even when he hadn’t said much.
Savi blinked again, confused, her voice groggy.
Savi:
"You… made this?"
He didn’t say much. Just nodded, lips twitching with something close to a smile.
Then, he sat beside her on the edge of the bed, gently offering the mug into her hands.
Rajat (softly, eyes on the cup, not her):
"Since you chose to stay for us last night…"
He paused, then looked at her — really looked at her.
Rajat (quietly):
"I can try for us, Savi."
The cup trembled slightly in her grip, her breath catching in her throat.
Her eyes shimmered, but she didn't cry.
She just stared at him like he was the sunrise she didn’t dare hope for.
Savi (barely a whisper):
"Thank you."
He didn’t reply. But his hand brushed over her blanket, pulling it over her lap like it was second nature.
And for the first time in days…
There was peace in the silence.
Savi stared at the coffee in her hands, still stunned, still holding her breath.
And Rajat?
He didn’t get up.
He stayed beside her, looking straight ahead — like the silence between them had become familiar, but today he was brave enough to break it.
Rajat (quietly, almost to himself):
"I’ve been angry, Savi."
She looked up at him slowly.
He continued, voice calm — no bitterness now, just the weight of everything unsaid.
Rajat:
"Angry that I gave my whole heart again... and it was tied to fear, not love."
Rajat (pausing):
"But… today, I’m less angry."
Savi blinked, unsure if she heard him right.
Then he turned toward her, eyes meeting hers — honest, open, tired… but soft.
Rajat:
"So if you’re still holding something back… if there’s more to say… I want to listen to you completely now."
Rajat (gently):
"Not as your husband. Not as Sai’s father. Not even as Rajat who got hurt."
Rajat:
"Just… as a man who still wants to know what’s in your heart."
Savi’s breath caught.
Her fingers clutched the cup tighter, not from fear — but from the weight of that one thing she wanted all along:
To be heard.
She placed the cup down slowly.
Then turned fully to him, eyes wide with trembling courage.
