"Okie Rajat… if Kiaan wants to go with his mumma, I won't stop him," Savi said quietly, her voice calm—too calm. Her heart clenched like a fist around breaking glass—it hurt, but she couldn’t let go.
She knew what Kiaan had been through. The nightmares. The tears. How he flinched at the sounds. The silence that followed him like a shadow when he first arrived. All of it born from Aashika. And yet… now he wanted to go back to her.
And outside, Kiaan overheard it—twisting her words in his small mind into something darker. A plot against his mumma. Against him.
...
Kiaan’s small face scrunched in confusion, his mind a swirl of voices. One in particular repeated itself like an echo in his head.
“She’s not a good person, beta. She’s been keeping your papa and Sai away from you. I don’t trust her. She will hurt you… Your Savi Aunty is a wicked woman.”
He looked at Savi, who was speaking to Rajat, her voice soft and warm. But doubt had already been planted, and it gnawed at his heart. Was she wicked? She didn’t feel wicked. But his mumma said so. And mumma never lies… right?
He wanted to believe what his heart felt, but his mind was too small to fight what it had been fed.
In the hallway, Aashika’s smile bloomed as Kiaan ran into her arms. There was a quiet satisfaction in her eyes—something cold and victorious.
“Mumma is right, isn’t she, baby?” she whispered, cradling him close.
Kiaan nodded, his voice trembling. “Savi Aunty is mean, Mumma. She wants me to live away from Papa.”
Aashika’s tone softened, sugar coating her venom. “Don’t worry, baby. Mumma’s here. I’ll fix everything.”
Then, her voice dropped lower. “Remember, Kiaan. Sai is your sister. I’m your mother. Rajat is our family. Savi Aunty… she’s an outsider. And sometimes, baby, we have to remove extra pieces to make the puzzle fit.”
Kiaan nodded again. A silent agreement. His innocence slowly morphing into something far more dangerous—manipulated loyalty.
......
On the other side.
Savi looked up at him, her eyes clouded with emotion. “Rajat, I need to confess something…” her voice barely rose above a whisper.
He leaned in, concerned. “What is it, Savi?”
Savi took a deep breath, her chest rising and falling with her nervousness. "I...I don't know if I can hold this thing in my mind anymore," she said, her voice cracking with emotion.
Rajat looked at Savi, his eyes filled with concern. "You are scaring me! Savi!"
She inhaled sharply, tears threatening to surface. “From the moment I married you, I wasn’t trying to be your wife.
.......I was trying to save myself from losing Sai.”
His brows furrowed. His breath caught. He hadn’t expected this.
“Every time when I love someone, they leave me. I thought if I held on to you, I wouldn’t lose Sai too. I was scared, Rajat. Scared that Aashika would come back and take everything again.”
Rajat’s silence wrapped around her like a storm cloud, waiting to break.
Savi swallowed hard. “Those hugs at night, the touches… They weren’t always about love. Sometimes, they were my anchor to something I didn’t want to lose. And I hated how it made you real to me—more than I ever allowed.”
Her voice cracked. “It felt like I was cheating on the past. On you. On myself. And yet… I started liking it. The idea that maybe I could be loved again. Thats why, I seemed Unstable, that I am two person.”
Rajat’s expression darkened—hurt twisting into confusion, betrayal, disbelief.
Savi's gaze drifted, her voice laced with a mix of emotions. " And I thought we don't need to love to be husband and wife..."
“So I was your safety net?” his voice came out raw.
Savi flinched. The way he said it—like she’d stolen something from him. “No. You’re more than that now. But back then… I was just terrified.”
But it was too late. The damage was done.
Rajat's expression twisted in a mix of emotions, his eyes filled with a deep sadness. He felt awful and used, the realization hitting him like a ton of bricks. The lady whom he adored so much was trying to get closer to him because of her fear of being replaced.
His silence screams louder than words, his face a mask of stunned emotions. Savi's eyes locked onto his, a mix of trepidation and resolve. "She knew she had to tell this, but beneath the guilt, there was another truth—a tender, terrifying truth: she had started to believe in second love."
Rajat's gaze lingered on Savi for a moment, and then he stood up to leave, his movements mechanical. The weight of her words crushed him, and he felt his heart break into pieces as he walked away.
Without another word, he turned and walked away, each step louder than the last. Savi's eyes followed Rajat's retreating figure, her voice silenced mid-sentence. She stood there, frozen, as the words she had yet to speak remained unspoken, lost in the space between them.
“Rajat, please—let me finish!” her voice broke, desperate, but he didn’t look back.
Aashika's eyes narrowed as she watched Rajat's tense figure, his movements abrupt as he grabbed his car keys in the hall. Savi's voice trailed behind him, desperate and pleading. "Rajat, let me say everything." But Rajat didn't turn back, his back stiff with unspoken emotions.
As Rajat’s car engine roared to life, Savi stood frozen, her whispered plea chasing the tail-lights.
She wasn’t sure what hurt more—what she said, or what he didn’t hear.
“Rajat… puri baat toh sun lete…”
Aashika stepped closer, her presence like a cold breeze at Savi’s back. “He won’t listen. Anger’s always been his flaw,” she said sweetly, like an old friend sharing gossip.
“He was like that with me too. One wrong word, and he’d shut the door.”
Savi didn’t answer. Her silence was no longer strength—it was the sound of something inside her collapsing.
Aashika tilted her head, mock-sympathy painted across her face. “Anyway, chill kro Savi. Rajat will cool down. He always does. Telling it from my own experience.”
Her words floated in the air, sticky with false hope.
Just then, the sound of tiny feet echoed in the hallway. Sai came running in with her drawing book, her little face lit up with joy.
“Pari Mumma! Help me with my homework!”
Savi blinked back her tears and opened her arms. Sai climbed into her lap, her tiny hands flipping pages.
Savi’s fingers guided the pencil, but her heart had drifted to a place her hands couldn’t reach. On Rajat’s silence. On Aashika’s twisted smile. On the war that had only just begun.
Sai’s innocent humming broke through the silence, grounding her. For a moment, Savi smiled.
But in her heart, a storm still raged.
And she knew—this wasn’t the end. It was just the beginning.
The beginning to win the Rajat not for the sake of her happy family but for the love.
This was no longer about saving a family. It was about fighting for love—for the first time, not out of fear... but for what was real.
