After some days........ (3 month of Saraj wedding)
The living room was scattered with craft paper, sketch pens, balloons, and excitement. Little Sai, with her two ponytails bouncing, was giggling while trying to hide her handmade card behind her back.
On the couch, Tara was blowing up balloons while showing Bhagyashree a Pinterest idea of a simple pastel-themed surprise setup.
Sai (excitedly):
"We'll hide behind the curtains and shout 'Happy Surprise, Pari Mumma!' when she comes from yoga!"
Tara (smiling):
"And what if your Pari Mumma cries from happiness?"
Sai (giggles):
"Then Papa will kiss her. Like in movies."
Everyone laughs.
Bhagyashree lovingly pats Sai's head.
Bhagyashree:
"Hamari chhoti pyari Cupid. Bas ab iss ghar mein sirf khushiyan ho."
Just then-
Click. Clack. Click.
The sound of stilettos slicing through the floor echoed before the storm entered.
Aashika walked in - dressed in a silky robe, her hair curled to perfection, nails freshly painted crimson. She was blowing gently over her fingers as if the world owed her attention.
She stopped at the doorway, surveying the scene with narrowed eyes.
Aashika (mock smile):
"Oho... kya taiyaari ho rahi hai? Someone has birthday today."
("Wow... what's all this prep for? Someone has birthday today")
Bhagyashree's smile thinned. Tara's face darkened.
Sai (innocently):
"Haan Mumma-Papa ki three month marriage-day!"
"Yes! It's Mumma-Papa's three-month marriage day!"
Tara (sweetly):
"She means anniversary, sweetheart. But I like marriage-day more."
(Shooting a glance at Aashika)
"It's more... real."
Aashika's gaze didn't move from Sai.
She walked to the table, picked up one of the sketches Sai made, lips curling in subtle mockery.
Aashika (sugar-laced tone):
"Anniversary? Hmm... interesting.
Pata nahi three months celebrate karna trend kab bana."
("When did three months become something worth celebrating?")
She chuckled.
Aashika (absently):
"Rajat aur main toh har saal anniversary Paris ya Maldives mein manate the... yeh balloons aur sketch pen se kuch yaad nahi aata mujhe."
("Rajat and I used to celebrate in Paris or Maldives every year... this balloon-sketch pen thing doesn't ring a bell.")
Bhagyashree looked up slowly, lifting her glasses with calm precision.
Bhagyashree (soft, sweet):
"Woh isliye kyunki woh yaadein jitni mehengi thi, utni hi jaldi mit gayi."
("That's because those memories-no matter how expensive-faded just as fast.")
Aashika's smile twitched.
Bhagyashree (gently):
"Aur asli khushiyan... wo toh ek chhoti bacchi ke haathon ke card mein milti hai. Na ki passport stamp pe."
