"She was glowing. The house was laughing. But the past? It was already walking back in."
Early Morning | Their Bedroom | Months Into Marriage.
The morning sunlight tiptoed into their room, slipping past the curtains like a quiet guest.
Rajat stirred first — not because of an alarm, but because of the quiet weight against his chest.
Savi.
Hair a mess. Lips slightly parted. Her hand still resting where it had fallen on his chest in the middle of the night.
She always slept like she belonged.
And now?
She did.
Savi shifted slightly, a faint smile tugging at her lips as the morning chill pulled her deeper into the warmth next to her.
And there he was.
Rajat.
His bare chest rose and fell in steady rhythm, one strong arm wrapped securely around her waist, the other cradling her head against him.
They lay tangled beneath soft sheets, bodies pressed close from a night that had blurred all distance — emotionally, physically, and everything in between.
Savi let out a sleepy hum, her face buried against his chest.
Savi (murmuring):
"Don’t get up yet… I’m warm here."
Rajat blinked his eyes open, lips quirking slightly.
Rajat (huskily):
"Didn’t say I was moving…"
He brushed his fingers lazily down her back, his touch feather-light, making her skin erupt in goosebumps even in the morning calm.
Savi snuggled closer — if that was even possible — pressing a soft kiss to the skin just above his heart.
Savi (teasing softly):
"I think I like being your wife. Especially like this."
Rajat chuckled lowly, voice still laced with sleep.
Rajat:
"You mean naked and smug in my arms?"
Savi slapped his chest lightly, giggling, then hid her face again.
Savi:
"Shut up."
Rajat:
"Say it again."
Savi (confused):
"What?"
He looked at her, brushing a strand of hair away from her cheek.
Rajat (whispering):
"That you like being my wife."
She looked into his eyes — sincere, clear, gentle.
Savi (softly):
"I do. More than I ever thought I could."
He kissed her forehead — slow, grounding.
Rajat (smiling):
"Good. Because I plan to keep waking up like this for a very long time."
Savi was still tucked against him, her fingers lightly tracing circles on his bare chest. The silence was golden — no noise, no rush, just the soft creak of the ceiling fan and their slow, synced breaths.
Rajat tilted his head to look at her — hair messy, lips slightly parted, cheeks still flushed from sleep. And he couldn’t help it.
He leaned down, brushing his lips against her temple.
Savi turned, her gaze meeting his.
Savi (teasing whisper):
"Staring at me like that again…"
Rajat (low, amused):
"Can’t help it. You’ve got that… just-woke-up-and-ruined-me look."
