Savi's eyes fluttered closed, but her mind refused to quiet. The words "Kiaan killed Arsh" echoed in her mind, triggering a cascade of memories she had tried to bury.
The trauma of witnessing Ishaan's brutal stabbing and shooting resurfaced, and she felt herself being pulled back into the darkness.
As she drifted off to sleep, her subconscious mind conjured up a nightmare, one that left her gasping for air. She tossed and turned, her sheets tangled around her legs.
At 5 am, Savi jolted awake, her eyes brimming with tears. She lay still for a moment, trying to calm her racing heart. With a quiet determination, she wiped away her tears and turned to look at Rajat, who was sleeping peacefully beside her.
She slipped out of bed and padded softly to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. As she stood there, sipping the cool liquid, she felt a sense of resolve wash over her. She knew she had to be strong, not just for herself, but for the two children who were now dependent on her.
Savi made her way to Sai's room, where she found both siblings fast asleep. She stood there for a moment, watching them, her heart swelling with love and compassion. Gently, she reached out and stroked Kiaan's hair, her voice barely above a whisper.
" Beta, the nightmares I'm facing, I won't let you face. I'll give you all the love, all the protection you need. You're safe now, Kiaan."
Savi's eyes smiled as she corrected herself, her voice filled with a sense of unity and family. "Safe with us, beta. You're safe with us."
Savi's heart skipped a beat as she heard Kiaan's whispered words, his small voice laced with a fierce determination. "Don't beat my mumma...I will kill you." The words sent a shiver down Savi's spine, and she felt her breath hitch in her throat.
As she stood there, frozen in shock, Savi realized that some traumas were indeed for a lifetime. The pain and fear that Kiaan had experienced, witnessing his mother being beaten, had left an indelible mark on his young mind. Just like the trauma she had faced when Ishaan died, Kiaan's trauma had become a part of him, shaping his thoughts and actions.
Savi's eyes welled up with tears as she looked at Kiaan, her heart aching for the little boy who had been forced to grow up too soon. She knew that she couldn't erase the past, but she was determined to provide Kiaan with a safe and loving environment, one where he could heal and learn to trust again.
Savi's eyes shifted to Sai, who was still sleeping peacefully beside Kiaan. She felt a wave of relief wash over her, and she whispered a silent prayer of gratitude. "Thank God," she thought to herself, "Aashika didn't take Sai with her. Otherwise, Sai would have faced a childhood just as traumatic as Kiaan's."
As she looked at Sai's innocent face, Savi felt a surge of protectiveness towards the little girl. She knew that she had to provide a stable and loving home for Sai, one where she could grow up feeling safe and cherished. And now, with Kiaan by their side, Savi felt a sense of determination to create a happy and harmonious family, one where both children could heal and thrive.
Savi's eyes lingered on the two children, her heart filled with a deep sense of conviction. "Childhood is a happy place," she thought to herself. "It's a time of innocence, of wonder, of laughter and play. It shouldn't be ruined by the harsh realities of the world. Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and protected. And I'll do everything in my power to make sure that Sai and Kiaan have the happy childhood they deserve."
Savi's eyes welled up with tears, and she felt a lump form in her throat as she looked at Sai and Kiaan. The weight of their stories, the pain they had endured, and the love she felt for them all came crashing down on her. She tried to hold back her tears, but they began to fall, streaming down her face as she stood there, her heart overflowing with emotion.
The tears streaming down Savi's face were not just for Sai and Kiaan, but also for the memory of her own lost unborn child. The pain of that loss still lingered, and as she looked at the two children in front of her, she couldn't help but think of the child she would never get to hold, never get to love. The grief and sorrow she had been carrying with her for so long came flooding back, and Savi let the tears fall, mourning the loss of her child, and finding a sense of purpose in caring for Sai and Kiaan.
As Savi's tears continued to fall, Kiaan suddenly stirred, his small body jerking violently as he woke up from a nightmare. Savi's instincts kicked in, and she immediately reached out, gently placing her hand on Kiaan's hair. Her touch was soothing, calming, and Kiaan's ragged breathing slowly began to steady.
"Nothing happened, beta," Savi whispered softly, her voice a gentle reassurance. "You're safe now. I'm here." As she spoke, she continued to stroke Kiaan's hair, her touch a balm to his troubled mind. Slowly but surely, Kiaan's eyelids drooped, and he drifted back to sleep, his small body relaxing into the safety of Savi's presence.
