Chapter 2: A Little Help

As the bell rang, signaling the end of class, Soul gathered his things slowly, still feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. He glanced over at Keeho, who was chatting animatedly with a couple of friends at the front of the room. The other students were packing up, and the atmosphere was buzzing with energy.

"Hey, Soul!" Keeho called out, catching his attention. He waved him over, and Soul felt his heart skip a beat.

Soul hesitated for a moment but then mustered the courage to walk toward them. "Uh, hi," he said, his voice slightly shaky.

"This is Intak and Jiung," Keeho introduced, nodding toward his friends. "They're on the dance team with me. We're just talking about the upcoming showcase. You should totally join us!"

"Join the dance team?" Soul repeated, trying to hide his surprise. The thought of dancing in front of more people made him anxious, but he didn't want to come off as uninterested.

"Yeah! We need more members, and I saw you moving in class. You've got potential!" Intak said with an encouraging grin.

Soul felt his cheeks heat up at the compliment, but he shook his head. "I'm not good enough..."

"Don't sell yourself short! Everyone starts somewhere," Jiung chimed in, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "We practice a lot, and we can help you improve your Korean too!"

Keeho nodded in agreement, his expression earnest. "Yeah! Plus, it'll be fun. Just think about it. We practice after school in the dance studio."

Soul felt a spark of hope. Maybe joining the team would help him feel more at home in Korea, and dancing had always been a passion of his. "I'll think about it," he said, smiling faintly.

"Great! Just let us know if you're interested!" Keeho replied, his grin widening. "We'd love to have you."

As they parted ways, Soul's heart raced with a mix of excitement and anxiety. He could hardly believe he was actually considering joining the dance team.

Later that day, as he walked home, Soul replayed the afternoon in his mind. The way Keeho had smiled at him and how supportive his new classmates were made him feel lighter.

That evening, as he practiced his Korean in front of the mirror, he couldn't help but think of the dance studio. He imagined himself moving to the rhythm, surrounded by friends, feeling the music flow through him.

Finally, he grabbed his phone and typed a message to Keeho.

Hey, I'm interested in joining the dance team!

A few moments later, his phone buzzed with a reply.

Awesome! Can't wait to see you there!

Soul couldn't help but smile. Maybe this new start in Korea would turn out better than he had expected.
