Chapter 52: Confessions to Jongseob

Soul sat on the park bench, staring down at his shoes, his thoughts a tangled mess. He had been avoiding this conversation for days now, but he couldn't keep it bottled up any longer. The tension between him and Keeho had been growing, and he needed to tell someone—anyone—before it drove him crazy.

And that someone was Jongseob.

Jongseob sat next to him, casually scrolling through his phone, completely unaware of the storm brewing in Soul's mind. Soul shifted awkwardly, trying to find the words, but every time he opened his mouth, nothing came out.

"Are you gonna say something, or just sit there and stare at the ground all day?" Jongseob asked without looking up from his phone.

Soul flinched. "I... I need to tell you something," he finally muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.

Jongseob paused, lowering his phone and glancing over at Soul with mild curiosity. "What's up? You look like you're about to throw up."

Soul wrung his hands nervously, his heart racing. "It's... about Keeho."

At the mention of Keeho's name, Jongseob raised an eyebrow. "Keeho? What about him?"

Soul bit his lip, his mind racing. How was he supposed to say this? He had never admitted something like this to anyone before, and the idea of it made his stomach flip. But Jongseob was his friend—maybe he could help.

"I... I think I have a crush on him," Soul blurted out before he could second-guess himself. His face immediately flushed, and he quickly looked away, embarrassed.

There was a long silence, and Soul felt like time had stopped. Jongseob didn't say anything right away, and Soul feared the worst. Had he messed up by telling him? Was Jongseob going to think he was weird?

Finally, Jongseob blinked, processing Soul's words. "Wait, what?"

Soul groaned, hiding his face in his hands. "I know, it's stupid. I didn't mean to... it just happened. He's always flirting with me, and I don't know what to do anymore."

Jongseob blinked again, this time with more clarity. He put his phone down and turned fully toward Soul. "Hold on, you're serious? You like Keeho?"

Soul nodded slowly, still refusing to meet Jongseob's gaze. "I think so. I mean, I know so. I just... I don't know how to handle it."

Jongseob let out a low whistle, clearly surprised. "Well, damn. I didn't see that coming."

Soul's anxiety spiked, and he quickly looked up at Jongseob, worried. "You don't think it's weird, do you?"

Jongseob tilted his head, considering for a moment before shaking it. "Nah, it's not weird. I mean, Keeho's been all over you for a while now. I'd be more surprised if you didn't catch feelings at some point."

Soul blinked, his cheeks still burning. "He's not all over me..."

Jongseob snorted. "Bro, he literally pins you to walls and flirts with you every chance he gets. Trust me, anyone with eyes can see that he's into you."

Soul groaned again, covering his face with his hands. "I don't know what to do, Jongseob. He's so... confident, and I'm just... me. What if he's just playing around? What if I tell him, and it ruins everything?"

Jongseob leaned back, crossing his arms as he thought it over. "Look, Keeho's a lot of things, but I don't think he's messing with you. He's always pretty real when it comes to stuff like this."

Soul peeked out from behind his hands, his eyes filled with uncertainty. "You really think so?"

Jongseob nodded. "Yeah. And honestly, if you like him, you should just tell him. The guy's been practically throwing himself at you for weeks, so I doubt he'd be upset about it."

Soul's heart raced at the thought of actually confessing to Keeho. "But what if I mess it up? What if things get awkward between us?"

Jongseob shrugged. "It's already kinda awkward with all the flirting and tension, so what's the worst that could happen? At least if you tell him, you'll know where you stand."

Soul bit his lip, considering Jongseob's words. He had been keeping these feelings to himself for so long, and now that he had finally admitted them, it felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. But the idea of telling Keeho still terrified him.

"What if he doesn't like me back?" Soul asked quietly.

Jongseob chuckled. "Bro, he definitely likes you. Trust me on this one."

Soul still wasn't entirely convinced, but hearing Jongseob say it out loud made him feel a little better. Maybe... maybe Keeho really did like him. Maybe he wasn't just messing around.

"I don't know if I'm ready to tell him yet," Soul admitted, sighing.

Jongseob nodded in understanding. "That's fine. You don't have to rush it. But when you're ready, just go for it. I think you'll be surprised by how things turn out."

Soul smiled faintly, feeling a little more at ease. "Thanks, Jongseob. I didn't think it'd be this hard to talk about."

Jongseob smirked, picking up his phone again. "Yeah, well, crushes make everything weird. But at least now you've got someone in your corner."

Soul chuckled softly. "I guess so."

As they sat there in comfortable silence, Soul felt a little lighter. He wasn't ready to confess to Keeho yet, but at least now he had someone who knew—and maybe, just maybe, Jongseob was right. Maybe Keeho really did feel the same way.
