Chapter 34: Double Meanings
The next day, Soul tried his best to avoid Keeho's constant teasing, but it was like trying to avoid the wind — impossible. As soon as they met up for class, Keeho was already in full flirt mode.
Keeho slid into his seat next to Soul, leaning in close, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "You know, Soul, I've been thinking... I've got this big... secret."
Soul blinked, confused and already sensing Keeho was up to something. "Secret?"
Keeho nodded, biting back a grin. "Yeah, something huge. Wanna guess what it is?"
Soul immediately caught on to the double meaning, his eyes widening. "Keeho, stop!"
Keeho chuckled, clearly pleased with Soul's reaction. "What? I was gonna say it's my singing talent, but your mind went somewhere else, didn't it?"
Soul's face flushed bright red, and he quickly turned away. "I-I wasn't thinking anything weird!"
"Sure, sure," Keeho teased, patting Soul's shoulder. "But, you know, if you ever wanna hear my other talents, all you have to do is ask."
Soul covered his face with his hands. "You are the worst."
Keeho laughed, leaning back in his chair. "Maybe, but I'm your favorite worst, right?"
Soul didn't respond, knowing that anything he said would only encourage Keeho more. Instead, he focused on his notebook, trying to tune out the flirty remarks that Keeho kept tossing his way.
As class went on, Keeho continued to push Soul's buttons. During a particularly boring lecture, Keeho leaned over again, his breath warm against Soul's ear. "You know, all this sitting in class is giving me some ideas..."
Soul, already knowing where this was going, sighed. "Don't say it."
Keeho smirked. "I was gonna say we should skip class and go for a walk, but now I'm curious. What did you think I was gonna say?"
Soul's face burned as he tried to focus on his notebook. "Nothing! I didn't think anything."
Keeho leaned in even closer, his voice a low whisper. "Liar."
Soul bit his lip, trying to hold back a smile. Keeho's teasing was relentless, but there was something about the way he did it that always left Soul feeling flustered, yet... strangely comforted.
"Fine, you win," Soul muttered, shaking his head. "But can you at least wait until after class to make dirty jokes?"
Keeho grinned. "No promises."
Just then, Theo appeared at the doorway, leaning against the frame with a curious look. "You two are at it again, huh?"
Soul immediately straightened up, embarrassed. "We're not at it! Keeho's just... being Keeho."
Theo chuckled and shook his head. "Sure, whatever you say."
Keeho, always ready with a comeback, leaned back in his chair and stretched. "What can I say? I'm an entertainer. Plus, Soul's reactions are just too good to pass up."
Theo snorted, walking over to take a seat near them. "Man, you really don't hold back, do you?"
Keeho shrugged, a playful grin on his face. "Why would I? Life's too short to be boring."
Soul, trying to change the subject, turned to Theo. "So, how's your day been?"
Theo raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by Soul's obvious attempt to shift the focus. "Pretty good, actually. But I have to say, watching Keeho mess with you is definitely the highlight."
Soul groaned, covering his face again. "Why is everyone like this?"
Theo chuckled, giving Soul a sympathetic pat on the back. "Don't worry, we're just teasing. You're fun to mess with because you're so cute about it."
Keeho leaned in with a smirk. "Exactly. Cute, quirky, and always blushing — what's not to love?"
Soul, feeling cornered, hugged his notebook to his chest. "I'm never gonna survive this school year, am I?"
Keeho winked. "Not if I have anything to do with it."
Theo laughed as the bell rang, signaling the end of class. "Looks like your torture is on hold for now, Soul. Better enjoy the break."
Soul sighed in relief as they packed up their things. But before they could leave the classroom, Keeho leaned in close to Soul one last time, whispering, "Just remember, Soul... I'm always here to make your day more interesting."
Soul glanced up at Keeho, his heart racing as he tried not to smile. "You're really something else."
Keeho winked. "You love it."
As they left the classroom, Soul found himself walking next to Keeho, their shoulders brushing. He couldn't help but smile, even as his cheeks burned with embarrassment. Keeho's jokes might be a little much at times, but deep down, Soul knew he wouldn't trade these moments for anything.
