Chapter 33: A Little Too Close

The following day at school, Soul found himself, once again, with Keeho practically glued to his side. By now, Soul had almost gotten used to the constant touches, but there were still moments when Keeho's teasing caught him off guard.

They were sitting in their usual spot during lunch, surrounded by Intak, Jiung, and Theo, but Keeho's attention seemed to be focused entirely on Soul. As they chatted, Keeho kept leaning in, his hand resting on the back of Soul's chair, fingers occasionally brushing against his neck.

"You're being awfully quiet today," Keeho murmured, his voice soft enough that only Soul could hear. "Something on your mind?"

Soul glanced up, feeling the heat rise in his cheeks. "N-no, I'm just... thinking."

Keeho tilted his head, that familiar smirk creeping onto his lips. "Thinking about me, maybe?"

Soul shot him a playful glare. "You wish."

"Oh, I know you do," Keeho teased, leaning in even closer. "I mean, you're always staring at me. I catch you all the time."

Soul's eyes widened, his heart racing. "I-I do not!"

Keeho raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "You sure about that? 'Cause I distinctly remember a certain someone who couldn't stop staring yesterday. Should I start charging for these looks too?"

Soul buried his face in his hands, embarrassed beyond belief. "You're impossible," he muttered, his voice muffled.

Keeho just laughed, reaching over to gently ruffle Soul's hair. "Relax, I'm just teasing. But seriously, it's kinda cute how flustered you get."

Before Soul could respond, Theo chimed in from across the table, grinning. "What's going on over there? You two seem extra close today."

Keeho's smirk grew even wider. "Oh, you know, Soul just can't resist me. He's all over me."

Soul immediately looked up, his face bright red. "That's not true!"

Theo laughed, shaking his head. "Sure, whatever you say. You two are basically inseparable at this point."

Intak and Jiung, who had been quietly eating, both looked up, clearly amused by the banter. Jiung nudged Intak and whispered something that made them both chuckle, and Soul could only imagine what they were saying.

Keeho leaned back in his chair, looking satisfied. "What can I say? I'm irresistible."

Soul huffed, crossing his arms. "You're full of yourself."

Keeho just winked. "Maybe. But you like it."

Soul rolled his eyes, though he couldn't help but smile. As annoying as Keeho could be, there was something about his confidence that was strangely endearing.

After lunch, the group split up to head to their respective classes. Keeho, of course, was walking with Soul again, his hand casually resting on Soul's shoulder as they strolled down the hallway.

"You know, you're really touchy today," Soul pointed out, glancing up at Keeho.

Keeho shrugged, a playful smile on his lips. "What can I say? I like being close to you."

Soul felt his heart skip a beat at the casual admission, but before he could respond, Keeho's expression turned mischievous.

"And besides," Keeho added, leaning in close, "you like it too."

Soul stopped in his tracks, turning to face Keeho with a flustered look. "I-I didn't say that!"

Keeho chuckled, stepping closer so that their faces were only inches apart. "You don't have to say it. I can tell."

Soul's breath hitched as Keeho's gaze locked with his, and for a moment, it felt like the world had stopped. The hallway was empty, and they were standing so close that Soul could feel Keeho's warmth.

Before anything else could happen, however, the door to the nearby classroom swung open, and Jongseob stepped out, his phone in hand.

"Yo, what are you guys doing?" Jongseob asked, not even looking up from his screen.

Soul jumped back, his face burning as he tried to compose himself. "N-nothing! We were just... talking."

Keeho, on the other hand, looked completely unbothered. "Just hanging out. What's up?"

Jongseob finally looked up, raising an eyebrow at the two of them. "You guys look like you were about to do more than talk."

Soul's face turned even redder, and he stammered, "W-we weren't! It's not like that!"

Keeho just grinned, clearly enjoying Soul's embarrassment. "Don't worry, Jongseob. You didn't interrupt anything... yet."

Soul shot Keeho a look, flustered beyond belief. "Can you stop already?!"

Jongseob just shrugged, his attention already back on his phone. "Whatever, man. You two do you."

With that, he walked off, leaving Soul and Keeho standing in the hallway alone again.

Keeho chuckled, his hand finding its way back to Soul's shoulder. "You're cute when you're flustered, you know that?"

Soul huffed, trying to calm his racing heart. "You really need to stop doing that in front of people."

Keeho just shrugged, his expression playful. "What can I say? I like messing with you. Plus, it's fun seeing you all red."

Soul sighed, knowing he wasn't going to win this argument. "You're impossible."

"And you're adorable," Keeho replied with a grin, giving Soul's shoulder a gentle squeeze.

As they headed off to their next class, Soul couldn't help but wonder if he'd ever get used to Keeho's relentless flirting. But one thing was for sure—no matter how flustered he got, he couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
