Sophie's Point Of View
I lay on the bed, the afternoon light filtering through the curtains, casting a warm glow that did little to ease the discomfort settling in my body. At 19 weeks pregnant, nausea had become a constant companion, and just moments ago, I'd rushed to the bathroom as waves of sickness crashed over me. As I leaned over the toilet, trying to find some relief, I heard a familiar voice from just outside the door.
"Hey beautiful, are you okay in there?" Niall's voice was filled with concern, and it made my heart swell despite the queasiness.
"I'm fine... just not feeling great right now," I called out, taking a deep breath. "I think the baby is making me feel a bit queasy."
Niall stepped closer, gently knocking on the door. "Do you need anything? Water? Ginger ale? A back rub?"
I chuckled softly at the thought of his offer, grateful for his unwavering support. "A back rub would be amazing, but I think I'll just stick to some water for now."
"Alright, I'll grab you some," he replied, his voice lightening up as if trying to lift my spirits. "But you need to promise me you'll rest. I can't have you feeling this way on my birthday!"
"Deal," I said, a smile creeping onto my lips as I imagined our celebration. "Just promise me you'll save some cake for me later."
"Always! I'll make sure it's the best cake ever. Just take care of yourself, okay? I'll be right back."
As I listened to his footsteps retreat down the hall, I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. His love and support made even the toughest moments bearable. I leaned back against the wall, allowing myself to relax just a bit more. Tomorrow was a special day for both of us, and no matter how I felt now, I knew we would celebrate together.
I took a moment to collect myself, breathing deeply to push the nausea aside. The thought of Niall's birthday celebration tomorrow brought a smile to my face. I couldn't wait to see his reaction to the surprises I had planned, especially the small gift I'd managed to hide away. He deserved to feel celebrated and loved, and I wanted to make it a day he would always remember.
After a few moments, I felt steady enough to rise. I washed my face at the sink, trying to shake off the lingering queasiness. I could hear Niall rummaging around in the kitchen, his soft humming filtering through the walls, a familiar comfort in the midst of my discomfort.
"Hey, I brought you water!" he called, his voice cheerful. "And I threw in some ginger ale just in case."
I opened the bathroom door, and there he was, leaning against the kitchen counter with a glass in one hand and a can in the other. He looked so handsome, his hair slightly tousled, and I felt a rush of love wash over me.
"Thank you," I said, taking the glass from him. "You're the best."
He grinned, his eyes sparkling. "Only the best for you and our little one."
I took a sip of the water, feeling it soothe my throat. "I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. I hope you know how much you mean to me, and how grateful I am for everything you do."
Niall stepped closer, wrapping his arms around me. "I feel the same way about you, Sophie. This little one is lucky to have you as their mom."
In that moment, all my discomfort faded away. It was just us, together, and everything felt right. I rested my head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. "Let's make tomorrow unforgettable."
