Maya's Point Of View

Tomorrow is mine and Liam's oldest son Bear's 4th birthday, and I can't help but feel a wave of emotions wash over me. I'm already crying upstairs. Our second-born son, Justin, who is just 1 year old, is taking a nap in his room. He'll turn 2 on August 29th, 2021.

Downstairs, I'm curled up on the couch, feeling the gentle kicks of our first baby girl, who's due in July. I watch Liam and Bear play with blocks together on the living room floor, and my heart swells with love.

"Look, Mommy! I made a tower!" Bear exclaims, his face lighting up with pride.

"That's amazing, Bear!" I call out, wiping away a tear. "You're going to be the best big brother!"

Liam chuckles as he helps Bear balance another block on top. "You're building a skyscraper, buddy! What should we name it?"

"Bear Towers!" he shouts, giggling.

"Bear Towers it is!" Liam laughs, glancing over at me. "I can't believe our little guy is about to be four. It feels like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital."

"I know," I reply, my voice soft. "And now we'll have a little girl to spoil, too. It's so surreal."

"Absolutely," Liam says, a warm smile spreading across his face. "This house is about to get a lot more chaotic, but I wouldn't want it any other way."

I take a deep breath, letting the moment wash over me. "I can't wait to celebrate with everyone tomorrow. Bear deserves the best birthday."

"Don't worry; I've got everything planned," Liam assures me. "It's going to be special. Just like him."

As I watch them, I can't help but feel grateful for this beautiful family we're creating together. Just as we're soaking in this moment, a little voice crackles through the baby monitor on the coffee table.

"Mama! Dada!" Justin's sleepy, but eager, voice calls out, breaking the peaceful silence.

Liam grins and glances over at me. "Sounds like someone's awake," he says, getting to his feet. "Should I go grab him?"

I smile, rubbing my growing belly. "Yes, please. I don't think I could get off this couch without some serious effort."

Bear looks up at me with wide eyes. "Can I come too, Daddy? I wanna say hi to Justin!"

"Of course, buddy. Let's go get your little brother," Liam says, reaching down to scoop Bear up. Bear laughs as Liam lifts him up high, then settles him on his hip.

A moment later, they disappear upstairs, and I can hear Bear talking excitedly through the monitor. "Justin, we're coming! You're awake now!"

Soon, they're back, with Liam carrying a sleepy but smiling Justin in his arms. His chubby cheeks are still flushed from his nap, and he reaches out his tiny hands toward me.

"Mama!" he says, his face lighting up when he sees me.

"Hi, sweetheart," I coo, holding out my arms. Liam gently passes him over to me, and Justin snuggles into my chest, resting his head against my shoulder.

"Did you have a good nap, little man?" I ask, stroking his soft hair.

Justin nods, his thumb finding its way to his mouth as he glances around sleepily. Bear plops down beside me on the couch, reaching over to pat Justin's leg.
