Sophie's Point of View

It was 4:00 a.m., and Niall and I were sound asleep in our room. Down the hall, Sarah was peacefully snoozing in her "big girl" bed. Out of nowhere, I was jolted awake by a sharp pain. I winced as I tried to sit up, and that's when I realized—I was soaked. My water had broken. Baby girl number two was on the way.

"Niall," I whispered, nudging him. He didn't stir, so I shook his shoulder a bit harder. "Niall, wake up!"

He groaned, turning over and blinking at me, still half asleep. "Huh? What's going on?"

"My water just broke," I said, my voice a mix of excitement and nerves.

That got his attention. He sat up quickly, his eyes wide. "Are you serious? Now?"

"Yes, now!" I laughed, though another contraction made me catch my breath. "We need to call my parents. They can come over and stay with Sarah so she doesn't wake up."

Niall fumbled for his phone, muttering to himself, "Okay, okay... I got this." He dialed my parents' number, and after a couple of rings, my mom answered.

"Hello?" came her groggy voice.

"Hi, Linda. It's Niall. Sophie's in labor—her water just broke. Could you and Michael come over to stay with Ed Sarah?"

"Oh, of course! We'll be there as soon as we can. Tell Sophie we're on our way!"

Niall hung up, looking at me with a reassuring smile. "They're coming. Let's get you ready."

I took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement, anticipation, and love. This was really happening—baby number two was on the way.

With my parents on the way, I carefully got out of bed, trying to breathe through the contractions that were already coming more regularly. Niall was by my side in an instant, his hand on my back.

"Do you need anything? Water? A snack?" he asked, a bit frantically.

I managed a laugh. "I think I'm okay for now, but maybe grab the hospital bag? And let's leave a quick note for Sarah in case she wakes up before my parents arrive."

He nodded, hurrying over to grab the small duffel bag we'd packed weeks ago. Then he scribbled a note on a sticky pad and placed it on the fridge.

"Sarah, Mommy and Daddy have gone to meet your new baby sister! Mimi and Pops are here to take care of you. Love you!" he read aloud as he finished.

I smiled, feeling a swell of warmth at the thought of Sarah soon meeting her sibling. But another contraction hit, sharper this time, making me grip the edge of the dresser. Niall was instantly at my side, concern etched on his face.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly.

"I'm okay," I replied, squeezing his hand. "But I think we should head to the hospital as soon as my parents get here."

Just then, we heard the familiar sound of my parents' car pulling into the driveway. Niall went to unlock the door, and moments later, my mom and dad stepped inside, looking slightly disheveled but wide awake.

"Oh, honey!" my mom exclaimed, rushing over to give me a gentle hug. "How are you feeling?"

I laughed a little, though another contraction made me wince. "I'm feeling... ready!"

My dad gave Niall a supportive nod. "You guys go—we'll take good care of Sarah. Don't worry about a thing."

Niall grabbed the hospital bag, and after one last look at Sarah's closed bedroom door, we headed out. The drive to the hospital was a blur of contractions and deep breaths, with Niall's hand firmly in mine the whole way.
