Tomorrow is my oldest son Freddie's fourth birthday, and I can hardly believe it! Louis told me to rest because I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant with baby number three, due on Valentine's Day. Right now, I'm upstairs in our room, the baby monitor on the nightstand beside me, listening to our one-year-old son William who is napping in his room down the hall.
"Just relax, love," Louis had said earlier as he worked on decorations. "I've got this. You deserve a break."
Freddie is out with my parents today; they wanted to spend some quality time with their grandson before his big day. I can only imagine the fun they're having.
"Can you believe Freddie is turning four?" I had told Louis this morning.
"I know," he replied, a smile creeping onto his face. "He's growing up so fast. It feels like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital."
As I listen to the quiet house, I think about how we recently moved into this place on January 1st. Louis has been busy decorating, trying to make it feel like home for our growing family.
"Are you sure you don't need any help?" I called out to him as I heard the sound of tape and balloons rustling.
"I'm all good! You just keep resting. I'll make it special for Freddie," he assured me, his voice filled with enthusiasm.
I smiled, grateful for his support. I close my eyes, allowing myself to relax and soak in the peacefulness, knowing that tomorrow will be full of excitement and celebration.
As the afternoon sun filters through the curtains, I can hear Louis bustling around downstairs, humming a tune as he works. I imagine him carefully hanging up decorations and setting up the table for Freddie's superhero-themed party. Just the thought makes me smile.
Suddenly, I hear the sound of the front door opening and footsteps coming down the hall. A moment later, Freddie bursts into the room, his face lit up with excitement.
"Mummy ! Look what Mimi and pops got me!" he exclaims, holding out a colorful superhero cape.
"Wow! You look amazing, Freddie!" I say, sitting up to get a better look. "You're going to be the best superhero ever!"
"I can't wait for my party tomorrow! Are there going to be cake and balloons?" he asks, bouncing on the balls of his feet.
"Absolutely! Louis has been working hard to make it special for you," I reply, glancing toward the door to see Louis peeking in, a proud smile on his face.
"I hope he didn't forget the piñata!" Freddie adds, his eyes wide with anticipation.
"Trust me, I didn't forget," Louis says, stepping into the room with a grin. "I've got a surprise that'll knock your socks off, buddy."
Freddie's eyes light up even more. "Can I help with the decorations, Daddy?"
"Of course! But first, let's see what else Mimi and pops brought you," Louis replies, kneeling down to Freddie's level.
Freddie runs to the hallway and shouts, "Come on, Mummy! Let's see!"
As I follow them downstairs, I feel a flutter of excitement. William's nap continues, leaving the house filled with laughter and joy. The decorations Louis put up transform our new home into a festive wonderland.
"Look at all the balloons!" Freddie gasps, pointing to the bright colors that float above the living room.
"I'm glad you like it! Now, let's see what else is in the bag," Louis says, pulling out a few more surprises.
