Maya's Point of View

Tomorrow, our eldest son Bear turns three, and I can hardly believe how fast the time has flown. I'm excited to celebrate, but right now, I'm curled up on our bed with a heating pad, dealing with cramps that seem determined to ruin the day. I let out a sigh, shifting to get comfortable, when a burst of giggles drifts up from downstairs. Liam and Bear are clearly having a blast without me, and just hearing their laughter brings a smile to my face.

The baby monitor screen shows our little one, Justin, sound asleep in his crib, taking his last nap of the day. Watching him sleep so peacefully warms my heart. I'm hoping to rest a bit myself, but with all the excitement for tomorrow, it's hard to relax.

A few minutes later, I hear little footsteps pattering up the stairs. The door creaks open, and Bear peeks in, his eyes bright with excitement.

"Mummy  he exclaims, running over to me.

"Hey, birthday boy!" I reach out and give him a gentle hug.

Liam follows behind, smiling as he leans against the doorframe. "He couldn't wait to tell you about his construction hat for tomorrow," he says with a chuckle.

Bear nods eagerly. "'im be 'struction worka! Daddy say I get tool belt, too!"

"Oh, wow! A construction worker, huh?" I grin, ruffling his hair. "You'll be the best one ever."

Bear beams and gives me a big hug before scurrying back to Liam, who picks him up.

"You feeling okay?" Liam asks gently, his voice laced with concern.

I give a tired smile. "Just my time of the month. But I'll be fine. Besides, it's Bear's special day tomorrow."

"Well, this construction worker here insists that you rest up," Liam teases, giving Bear a playful squeeze.

"Yes, Mummy, you west so you can build wif me!" Bear pipes up with a serious nod.

I laugh softly. "Alright, little builder, I'll take orders from you. But only if you promise to save me a dance at your party."

Bear giggles, then snuggles closer to Liam, who winks at me. "Consider it done, love. Now you relax – we've got the building site under control."

As they head back downstairs, I close my eyes, a smile lingering on my lips. With all this love around me, I know tomorrow will be perfect.

"Alright, alright. How could I say no to the birthday boy?" I laugh, settling back against the pillows. "I'll rest up, so I'm ready to build the best construction site with you."

Bear's face lights up even more, and Liam carries him closer so Bear can press a small, surprisingly gentle kiss to my forehead. "Night, Mummy! 'Member, you west!"

With a final wink, Liam takes Bear back downstairs, leaving me in a cozy quiet that I hadn't realized I needed. It's just me, the soft hum of the baby monitor, and a few minutes to let the cramps settle.

I glance at the screen, watching Justin's chest rise and fall. He looks so small, so peaceful. In moments like these, I can't believe I have two incredible boys to love. It's hard to imagine that tomorrow Bear, my little baby, will be three years old. Just thinking about it fills my heart with a bittersweet ache—the joy of watching him grow mixed with that feeling of time slipping by faster than I'd like.

My mind drifts back to when Liam and I first found out we were expecting him. We were so young, unsure of what we were getting into but so ready to give it everything we had. And now, here we are, getting ready to celebrate Bear's third birthday. My fingers brush over my stomach as I think of everything we've been through together.
