Sophie's Point Of View

Doctor's appointment

The morning sun streamed through the car windows, casting warm rays that danced across the dashboard. I felt a flutter of excitement in my stomach as Niall maneuvered the car through the familiar streets of our neighborhood. Today was the day we would finally find out whether we were having a boy or a girl. The thought made my heart race.

"Nervous?" Niall asked, glancing at me with that signature smile that always made my insides feel like they were turning into butterflies.

"A little," I admitted, biting my lip. "What if it's a boy? Or what if it's a girl? I just want to know so we can start planning!"

He chuckled softly, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "We can always plan for both. We'll have the cutest nursery regardless."

I laughed, my nerves easing slightly. Niall had a way of making everything feel light-hearted and fun. We had spent countless evenings discussing potential names and dreaming up scenarios of our future together as parents, but this was different. This was the moment we'd been waiting for, the moment that would change everything.

As we drove, I stole glances at Niall, noticing the way his fingers drummed against the steering wheel to the rhythm of the music playing softly in the background. He seemed as excited as I was, and it filled me with warmth. I could picture him holding our baby, teaching her how to strum a guitar, sharing his love for music with her. The image brought a smile to my face.

"Just a few more blocks," Niall said, breaking me out of my daydream. "You ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be," I replied, my voice steadying as I took a deep breath. The doctor's office came into view, and my heart raced again, a mixture of anticipation and anxiety swirling within me.

We parked and made our way inside, my hand slipping into Niall's as we walked through the sliding glass doors. The waiting room was filled with the sounds of chatter and the rustle of magazines, but all I could focus on was the overwhelming sense of anticipation that hung in the air.

After what felt like an eternity, the nurse called my name. Niall squeezed my hand gently, and we followed her down the hallway. The sterile smell of the office mixed with the faint scent of antiseptic, and I took another deep breath to calm my racing heart.

"Let's find out what we're having," Niall said, his voice full of encouragement as we settled into the examination room.

The doctor arrived shortly, all smiles and warmth. She began the ultrasound, the screen flickering to life, and I held my breath, eager to catch a glimpse of our little one. As the doctor moved the wand across my belly, Niall's hand found mine again, and we exchanged nervous glances.

"Here we go," the doctor said, pointing at the screen. I squinted, trying to make sense of the images before me. Then, with a smile, she announced, "It looks like you're having a girl!"

My heart soared, and I felt a rush of emotions flood over me. A girl. I could hardly contain my excitement. Niall's eyes widened in disbelief, and then he broke into a huge grin, the kind that lit up his entire face.

"A girl?" he repeated, his voice filled with awe. "I can't believe it!"

"Yes! A beautiful little girl," the doctor confirmed. "Congratulations!"

I felt tears of joy prick at the corners of my eyes as I turned to Niall. "We're having a daughter," I whispered, the reality of it washing over me. I could already envision the little girl who would someday steal his heart, her giggles filling our home.
