Chapter 74 - Nitrogen Narcosis

In his space suit, Ethan hurries to the shuttle bay.

"You're jumping to conclusions. Anything could've ripped the sail." Richard tells Ethan.

"Like what, Richard!?"

"A micro-meteorite. All that shit we ejected from the shuttle bay."

Ethan turn to him right inside the depressurising airlock room before the shuttle bay. "And it just happened to target our sole means of propulsion?"

"Please, Ethan. Just take a minute." You say, trying to calm him. "Think things through before you leave without a plan."

He just looks at you. "Depressurise airlock. Authorisation, Ethan Stone, Alpha 6-8-3."

The airlock door closes before you can get through to stop him. You get up in the window looking at him. "Ethan, wait."

Ethan takes on his helmet and turn to the other side. "Depressurise shuttle bay."

"Ethan!" You knock on the window.

He walks into the shuttle bay and an Achaian hovers over to him, its flickering lights enveloping him. He falls to the floor. "Argh!"

"Ethan! There's nothing there!" You scream through the window but he can't hear you. "Look at me, Ethan!"

"Ethan!" Richard yells beside you, watching Ethan squirm and exclaim on the floor with nothing attacking him.

Jason gets a knock on his door. Erik asks what information he's holding back, but Jason says that he hasn't revealed anything. Erik asks him to remember what he told him, but he doesn't remember.

Erik then asks if he remembers anything about the magnetar and he thinks it is weird that he doesn't remember.

"Why don't I remember?"

Erik tells him that Seth must've wiped his memory of what they had been hiding.

William is in the particle accelerator room, still trying to figure it out. But can't and he gets frustrated.

"Why are you getting so frustrated because things aren't going the way you want them?" Ethan asks him, everything in the room glitching.

William points at him. "You're not here. You're not here, and this is not happening!" He pinches his eyes closed.

"What are you so afraid of? That you're going crazy?" Ethan asks.

You appear beside William. "You're not. Open your eyes.." You tell him and he looks at you. "There you go. You're okay."

"Why am I seeing you guys? You're light-years away."

Iara appears, slightly glitching. "Distance is relative, William. I'm halfway across the galaxy. At least that's where I think I am. In reality, I'm inside of you."

"We are too." Ethan tells him as you walk toward him.

When you reach Ethan, he takes your hand and smile lovingly at you. Then he looks at William again.
