Chapter 76 - Maze Theory

The Salvare crew and Erik meets up again at a motel somewhere. Zayn says he remembers the magnetar and operating on Javier, but Erik asks if he remembers why and what happened to the Achaia ring, which he doesn't. Seth has gone into their brains to retrieve information.

Zayn realises what happened, and apologises for having given up the information to save his mother. Jason tells him that the Achaia had offered him something that's hard to resist, so he understands. The others understand too and don't blame him.

Bernie says that the Achaia are helping them, but Dillon tells him they need to follow Ethan's orders. However, Bernie says Ethan is dead. Erik remind him that Ethan died so he could be here.

They say that William knows all the information they need. But that means Seth knows too.

"We have to get to William first."

William tries to call Erik, but doesn't get through. He tries Jason, but is blocked. Seth order him to the particle accelerator. He tells William that he needs information, telling him that he knows they know what high-density neutrinos do to the Achaia and that William is trying to turn it into a weapon.

...

"Richard!" You call out but don't get any response. "Richard, where are you?"

Ethan looks at the new door opening.

"Right-hand rule.. Let's hope they don't know maze theory." He pulls your hand and you continue walking.

Eventually you find a room and walk in, the door closes behind you.

There's an object on display in the middle of the room. You walk closer but then Ethan lets go of your hand, holding it up, signalling for you to stay. He approaches it, but you grab his hand. Turning to you, you frown worriedly at him. He takes your hand, squeezing it slightly before letting go and walking closer again. His band changes colour to blue. Tentatively, he reaches up and touch it.

Ethan gasps and you palm your mouth in worry. He just stares out into nothing. You walk closer and look at him. Then you jump in surprise when the door opens again.

"Richard." You sigh in relief as he walks through the door. It closes behind him. "What took you so long?"

"Turns out I'm not so good at puzzles as I thought. What's he doing?" He gestures to Ethan. You both turn to Ethan, who's still just staring out into nothing in a trance.

"I don't know." You say worriedly.

You touch Ethan's shoulder. He wakes up, whipping his head to you and removes his hand. He looks at you and Richard, then notices Richard band glowing red.

"What does it mean?"

"Your guess is as good as mine."

"Do you feel different?" You ask him. "Like weak or anything?"

"Nothing." He looks around the room. "They led us here. Why?"

"When I approached this, my armband turned blue." Ethan says touching his band that's now back to orange like yours. Then he looks at the object again. "When I touched it, I had images in my head. Flashes of things."
