ABI
"Retreat! Retreat!" Our commanding officer shouted as he started to give us a signal to retreat.
Dali-dali kaming umatras at sumunod sa kanya. The area was filled with noises from bombs and rifles. Madilim at masukal ang daan. Nakakatakot at talagang pinagpapawisan kami sa nerbyos.
There's no certainty once we enter the battle ground.
"Let's go! Let's go, team!" Master Sergeant Andrew Abarcar led our way to go back to our base.
One of my fellow soldiers, Rita, asked me.
I nodded. "Oo. Pagod lang." I said and stared at my both hands.
When I entered the military world I didn't expect to be like this. All I want is to see…him. But, I guess I made the wrong decision. I was sent into this war against rebels without even having a chance to meet him.
When we reached the barracks, we were called for a short meeting. We lined up in front Master Sergeant Abarcar, waiting for whatever he had to say.
"Brigadier General Migz Villafuerte sent reinforcements to help us against the rebels. We can't fight them back kung tayo-tayo lang. As you can see earlier napakarami nila. As for now, magpahinga na muna ang iba. Yung iba naman stay alert. Kailangan handa tayo sa nakapaligid sa ating kapahamakan."
"Sir, yes, sir!" We all say.
I actually don't know what time it is.
If I didn't make an impulsive decision I should've laid on my soft big bed not on this hard folding bed.
I was about to fall asleep when I heard a sudden explosion from near the area.
"Oh, fuck!" I cursed as I saw numbers of armed men running to our base.
We immediately positioned ourselves on our military combat ditch.
"Tang-ina nasundan tayo dito!"
I'm so scared. I feel like crying while listening to the voices of my fellow soldiers, bombs and guns. At this moment, I am slowly accepting my fate to die in this battle.
"PFC Sison, we can do this!" "Uuwi tayong buhay! Let's go!" She shouted with determination.
I took a deep breath before going back to my position. I rained bullets on the enemies. I was really eager to kill those rebels.
